We love receiving your donations, but please don't leave them outside our shops.
We know that every bag left for us is a kind gesture, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who chooses to support St Luke's Hospice, but when donations are left outside our shops while we're closed, we have to treat them as contaminated. That means we can't sell them, and instead have to pay to dispose of them. Sadly, every bag in this photo, dumped outside our Waverley shop this morning, had to be thrown away.
As you can imagine, this quickly adds up to hundreds of pounds in disposal costs β money that could instead help fund specialist palliative and end of life care for local people, whether that's caring for a patient on our Inpatient Unit or supporting someone in their own home.
Please help us make every donation count by:
π Bringing your items during opening hours.
π Visiting another St Luke's shop if your nearest one is closed.
π Taking items that aren't suitable for donation to the local recycling centre.
Every donation can make a difference β but only if we can sell it safely.
Thank you for your kindness, your understanding and for continuing to support St Luke's Hospice π
