⭐️National Volunteers' Week ⭐️
Damhouse is managed by the charity Mort's Astley Heritage Trust, with volunteer trustees overseeing the strategic direction of the organisation and dedicated volunteers helping to maintain the gardens, preserve the heritage support events, and so much more.
Damhouse itself is over 400 years old, and the grounds are even older. The magnificent yew tree on the lawn is estimated to be more than 500 years old. It is thanks to the dedication and hard work of volunteers that this important heritage site continues to thrive for future generations.
Two of our Trustees, Elaine Hurst and Geoff Hurst, are founding members of the Trust who played a key role in saving the house and grounds from housing development over 30 years ago. Their passion and commitment remain just as strong today as they were back then!
During National Volunteers' Week, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our wonderful volunteers. They generously give their time, skills, effort and resources to help preserve this historic building and ensure the grounds remain safe and welcoming for the whole community to enjoy.Thank you!
If you would like to get involved as either a Trustee or a volunteer, we would love to hear from you. Please email [email protected] for more information.
