Join us at Damhouse for a mindful wellbeing arts workshop. No art experience necessary, just a chance to slow down and connect with nature 🍁

The workshop is facilitated by Steffie’s Art Space, Steffie is a Therapeutic Arts Practitioner and also offers workshops at RHS Bridgewater, The Whitworth Gallery and Privately.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Heritage Open Weekend ! We welcomed 184 visitors across the weekend, and it was fantastic to see so many people taking an interest in Damhouse and the local area.

As well as raising important funds to help us continue looking after the house and grounds, the weekend was most importantly about celebrating and sharing our incredible local heritage.

We would like to take a moment to remember and thank the original Mort’s Astley Heritage Trust whose determination and hard work over 30 years ago helped save Damhouse and its grounds for future generations. Without those original Trustees, the Damhouse we know and love today may not have been here to celebrate.

A very special thank you goes to Elaine Hurst, one of our founding Trustees, who joined us throughout the weekend and gave fascinating talks about Damhouse and its history. Elaine has been at the heart of sharing our heritage for many years and until very recently has given every single tour of Damhouse. Her knowledge, passion and dedication are a huge part of our story.

Thank you to everyone who visited, volunteered, supported us, shared memories and helped make the weekend a success!

Merly’s Kitchen at Damhouse

Join us for a lovely early evening of live folk music, good food and great company at Merly’s Kitchen.

We’ll be joined by Rob for two live sets:

🎵 5.00pm – 5.45pm | First set
🥧 5.45pm – 6.30pm | Hot supper
🎵 6.30pm – 7.30pm | Second set

Your ticket includes a traditional hot supper of pie & peas, served between the two sets.

🎟️ Tickets £20 per person

What a fabulous first day we’ve had for the Heritage Open Weekend!

We had just short of 100 visitors over the course of the day! Preserving the heritage of the house is incredibly important and being able to share it with so many interested people today has been fantastic.

Saturday and Sunday- 10:00-16:00- No booking necessary

There’s plenty to see and do!
- Explore the historic top floor
- View the many original photographs of the local area
- Dress up and take a picture in the vintage Photo Booth
- Search for items on the heritage quiz
- Raffle hamper to be won!
- Kids can take part in the Duck hunt for £1 and a small prize

Sadly, one of our beautiful willow trees has broken and fallen into the pond 💚

Our most recent tree survey did not identify any concerns with this tree, so this appears to be an unexpected natural occurrence. We’ll assess the area and make sure it’s safe, while taking care to protect the wildlife and natural habitat around the pond.

It’s always sad to lose one of the trees that make our grounds so special, but nature has its own way of doing things 🍃
