As we head into autumn, Kirk has been busy in the kitchen creating a brand new Bistro Taster Menu, and this one is a proper celebration of the season.

Our latest menu brings together rich, comforting flavours with a few elegant twists, starting with:

🥕 Honey roast parsnip & carrot soup
Served with Hambleton’s wholegrain bread and tomato stuffed olives

🐟 Roast fillet of Scottish salmon
With saffron cream and pomegranate dressed baby spinach

🌱 Goats cheese & beetroot quinoa

🍋 Lime & vodka sorbet

🥩 Slow roast fillet of pork
With wild mushroom & bacon stuffing, maple fried pork belly and buttered champ

🫐 Petit blueberry & amaretto trifle

🍎 Textures of apple

☕ Finished with coffee & cake

And for those who want to make an evening of it, our carefully selected wine match is available for £25pp.

🍽️ Sunday Lunch is back this month! 🍽️

Our next Sunday Lunch will be served on Sunday 23rd August, and bookings are now open!

If you’re looking for a traditional Sunday roast without the cooking (or the washing up!), we’d love to welcome you.

Expect a choice of beautifully cooked roast meats, homemade pie and vegetarian options, all served with:

🥕 Seasonal vegetables
🥬 Yorkshire puddings

📢 A bit of a longer post than usual, but please take a minute to read as some exciting changes are happening at Dougie's.🤍

First, we'd like to let everyone know that we are now closed for a short break. We'll be reopening on Friday, 24th July, and when we do, we'll be welcoming you back with a fresh new way of doing things.

After a lot of thought, we've made some changes that allow us to focus on what we love most while keeping Dougie's sustainable as a small independent business. We genuinely believe these changes will create an even better experience for our customers, and we can't wait to share them with you.

✨ Friday is now Dougie's day!

From 24th July, we'll be open every Friday from 10.30am until midnight.

☕ 10.30am – 5.00pm
Our café will be serving homemade lunches, freshly baked cakes, great coffee and all your daytime favourites.

🍽️ From 5.30pm
Friday evenings are getting even better...

We're delighted to introduce our brand new Friday Suppers, a relaxed two-course menu for just £20, created by Kirk using the same quality ingredients and homemade cooking you've come to expect from Dougie's.

And for those who love our signature dining experience...

✨ Dougie's Bistro is back every Friday evening.

Instead of running once a month, our Bistro tasting menu will now be available every Friday. When you book, simply choose whether you'd like the Bistro Taster Menu or the Friday Supper Menu, then settle in and enjoy your table for the evening.

There are a couple of other changes too:

🤍 The café will now be open Fridays only, so we will no longer be opening on Thursdays.

🎉 Saturdays will now be dedicated to private parties, celebrations and exclusive hire, so we won't be taking regular Bistro bookings on Saturdays.

🍷 Our popular Sunday Lunch isn't going anywhere and will continue once a month, with dates announced here and on our website.

These changes have come after a great deal of thought, and we're genuinely excited for this new chapter. They allow us to focus our time and energy on creating the food and atmosphere we love, while making the business work for us as a small independent.

Thank you, as always, for every coffee you've shared with us, every meal you've booked, every recommendation you've given and every kind word you've spoken. Your support means more than you'll ever know.

We hope you'll join us from Friday 24th July to experience our new Friday Suppers, the return of our weekly Bistro evenings, and everything else this new chapter has to offer.

☀️ You don’t want to cook in this heat… ☀️

The good news is, you don’t have to!

We’re back from our little break and the café will be open again tomorrow and Friday from 10.30am until 2.30pm, serving all your favourites including homemade cakes, freshly prepared lunches, delicious coffee and plenty of cold drinks to help you stay cool.

And while we’re talking about food…

🍽️ Don’t forget we still have tables available for Sunday’s lunch.

Leave the roasting, washing up and hot kitchen to us and enjoy a relaxed Sunday lunch with family and friends. Choose from our selection of traditional roasts, homemade pie and vegetarian options, all served with the trimmings, followed by one of our homemade puddings.

With temperatures set to stay high, it sounds far more appealing than standing over a cooker all afternoon!
