What a wonderful celebration of belonging to Godmanchester.

On a beautiful sunny day, we came together at St. Mary’s Church for the Mayor’s Civic Service, led by our Town Chaplin, Rev Daniel Beckett.

It was an honour to welcome the Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Chris Parkhouse, the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, Francis Burkitt, and Mayors from our neighbouring towns and parishes. They joined our Scout and Guide groups, town councillors, residents and representatives of many community groups.

The choirs from St. Anne’s School and GCA & GBA Combined filled the church with joy. The Youth Council shared thoughtful reflections on what belonging means to them, and the Cubs group brought fantastic artwork. Our young people brought so much warmth and creativity to the day.

Thank you for your generosity. The collection raised over £200 for HCCN (Hunts Community Cancer Network) and St. Mary’s church.

It is a real privilege to be Mayor of Godmanchester and to see our community come together like this. It reminded me that what makes our town so special is its people and the care we show for one another.

My heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, took part and helped organise such a joyous occasion.

What a fantastic Day on Saturday for Apple Day! Our councillors chatted to lots of visitors and it was great to hear some of your feedback. We're already excited to see what next years event has in store 🍎 🎃

As the Town Council’s Events & Tourism Officer, I’m so lucky that promoting our beautiful Town is part of my job.

Each week, on my way to the office I take a walk along the river, starting at the Mill Yard Steps. I have now been doing this walk weekly since I joined the Town Council last October. I started taking pictures and thought it would be lovely to capture how this familiar view changes throughout the year.

This video is the result, a year of photographs showing the changing seasons, floods, duckweed and plenty of new growth.

That riverside walk always brings a little joy to my day, and I hope these photos bring some to yours too. We’re so lucky to call Godmanchester home.

🍎 Come and see us at Apple Day! 🍎

We will have a stall at Apple Day this year, so please pop over and say hello!

It’s a great opportunity to meet some of your Town Councillors, have a chat and share your thoughts about Godmanchester.

We’ll also be gathering feedback from residents about the town generally, as well as asking specifically about youth services and opportunities for secondary school-aged young people in Godmanchester. We’d really like to hear your views.

So, if you find time between apple pressing and a visit to the Muddy Trowel, come and find us next to the Nursery Honey! 🍯🐝

Our Muddy Trowel Cafe opens on Fridays and Saturdays between 10am and 2pm.

We serve delicious homemade sausage rolls and scones as well as a good selection of cakes; gluten free and vegan options are always available.

We have a wide range of hot and cold drinks; alternative milks available.

This Saturday is our annual Apple Day so we will be busy but, if you haven't popped in before why not take a visit and spend a few hours in the fresh air.

We're dog friendly with lots of things for the kids to play on whilst you sip and munch.

On Sunday 4th October The Mayor of Godmanchester represented our Town at the Justice Service held in Ely Cathedral which is an opportunity for representatives of the county to come together to celebrate the best aspects of our county and to thank all the organisations, employees, staff, volunteers and supporters who serve our county and make it the wonderful place it is.

The Mayor attended with her consort, Mace Bearer, Stephen Wakeman, Cllr Wakeman and our Deputy CEO Clair Whitlock.

It was fabulous to see so many Magistrates, Judges, Lord Lieutenants, Deputy Lord Lieutenants, Council Leaders, Mayors and Macebearers.

The Mayor's thanks go to the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, Francis Burkitt and his team for the invitation as well as the Ely Cathedral and the King School Ely for organising such a wonderful celebration.
