You may have seen these around the restaurant, but what do they mean? These are called “Moor heads” or “teste di moro" 🇮🇹

They are colourful, ceramic vases that represent the face of a man and a woman, with a solemn crown. A quite common feature of terraces and gardens in big and small towns in Sicily. Sicilian moors heads take their origin over a thousand years ago, in particular around the year 1100, during the domination of Moors in Sicily.
