🌟 Café Update – The Last Couple of Weeks 🌟

It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks here at the café, and we’d love to share some of our highlights with you!

🎂 Firstly, we’d like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Alex, Zoe, and Mark! We hope you all had wonderful celebrations and enjoyed your special days.

👋 We’ve recently welcomed Ellie to the team on Saturday mornings as she begins her 12-month training programme with us. We’re excited to have her on board and look forward to working together over the coming year. Please join us in making her feel welcome as she settles in.

📚 We’d also like to welcome Tea’, who is joining us from Farmborough College as a work experience student. Tea’ will be with us for another week, and we’re delighted to be supporting her learning and development.

🎢 Finally, our team recently enjoyed a fantastic day out at Chessington World of Adventures! It was wonderful to spend quality time together away from the café, and everyone had a great day making memories, sharing laughs, and enjoying the rides. Big thank you to our wonderful volunteers who helped on the day both at Chessington and those running the cafe in our absence!

What a fantastic weekend it has been for OFLAC Café! ☀️🎶🐴

On Saturday, we celebrated Katie graduating from our training programme after 12 months working with us on Saturday mornings. We are incredibly proud of the progress she has made over the past year, especially the confidence she has gained interacting with members of the community and the valuable work skills she has developed along the way. Katie also had the opportunity to make one of our newest summer specials — an iced latte! 🧋👏

We also want to say a huge thank you to Andy and Pete from Ukes for All for organising a wonderful fundraising ukulele singalong evening. Everyone who attended can agree it was a fantastic night filled with music, laughter, and community spirit. The event raised much-needed funds for our upcoming training course — thank you both for your amazing support! 🎶💙

To round off the long weekend, we attended the Donkey Derby on Bank Holiday Monday. Although it was extremely hot, it was lovely to be out in the community enjoying such a great local event. We were pleased to keep everyone refreshed with drinks and refreshments throughout the day! ☀️🥤

A big thank you to Farmborough and Rushmoor Rotary Club for inviting us to be part of the event and to Vanessa and ASDA for their generous donations!

🐴☀️ A responsible decision putting animal welfare first — we fully support the organisers and look forward to a fantastic community day out tomorrow!

🎡 With plenty still going ahead, including entertainment, stalls, rides, refreshments and more, we hope to see lots of you there! OFLAC will also be serving refreshments in the pavilion to help everyone stay cool and hydrated throughout the day ☕🥤

🌟 Are you, or do you know, an adult with learning disabilities who has not yet had the opportunity to take part in our 12-month work experience training programme? 🌟

Our OFLAC FAB Cafe café is inviting new applicants to get in touch and find out more about our 12-month training.

Applicants have the opportunity to:
☕ Gain hands-on café and customer service experience
📈 Build confidence and independence
🤝 Develop teamwork and communication skills
🌟 Prepare for future volunteering or employment opportunities

We are currently offering application forms and adding new applicants to our waiting list ready to fill places as current trainees graduate.
