Whether you’d like to help as a steward, parking attendant, marshal or part of the front of house team, we’d love to hear from you.

The Devon County Show runs from Thursday 21st – Saturday 23rd May for one of Devon’s most loved celebrations of country life. From animals and heavy horses to incredible local food, crafts, music and more. It’s a fantastic day out for all ages.

Earlier this month Michael was honoured to officially open Café EX4, a welcoming community space offering low-cost breakfasts and a place to connect.⁠

⁠The Café EX4 team is a group of friends brought together through their own journeys with financial struggles, mental health challenges, isolation, and physical health difficulties. What started as a shared experience has grown into a mission to build a welcoming, supportive community café where no one feels alone.

The Café is open every Thursday morning from 10.00am to 12.30pm at Lucky Lane, Exeter (EX2 4A2). Café EX4 is a safe, friendly space for anyone aged 18 and over to meet, connect, and feel supported.

Café EX4 serves a warm, comforting breakfast – from a full English to simple options like jam on toast or scrambled eggs – along with unlimited tea and coffee. They only ask for a small donation, which goes directly back into keeping the café running and covering rent, buying food, and expanding what they offer.

The Devon County Agricultural Association has announced BASICS Devon as its Charity of the Year for 2026.

A team of highly trained volunteer medics, BASICS Devon delivers life-saving emergency care across the county, often arriving first at the scene in critical situations, from rural road incidents to cardiac arrests in remote communities.

Responding to hundreds of emergencies each year, day and night, their dedication and expertise make a vital difference when it matters most. Recently recognised with The King’s Award for Voluntary Service, a fitting tribute to their commitment and dedication.

Visitors to the Devon County Show (21–23 May 2026, Westpoint Exeter) will have the opportunity to meet the team, explore their emergency response vehicle, and learn essential life-saving skills, with BASICS Devon as the sole charity beneficiary throughout the event.

Celebrate the arrival of spring with a guided morning exploring one of Europe’s most important wetlands. Join local Countryside Manager James Chubb for an immersive birdwatching walk along the internationally renowned Exe Estuary, where seasonal migration brings the landscape vividly to life.⁠

As spring unfolds, the estuary becomes a hub of activity. Resident species such as oystercatcher and little egret are joined by migrating visitors on remarkable long-distance journeys, while curlew, gulls and other waders animate the shoreline. Along the hedgerows, birdsong fills the air as blackcap, chiffchaff and whitethroat return, and the open skies may even deliver the year’s first swallows.⁠

Designed for novice to intermediate birdwatchers, this guided walk offers practical tips on identifying waders, wildfowl and songbirds, alongside fascinating insights into their habitats and migratory journeys.⁠
