We’ll have FOUR handpulls pouring at The Railway Alehouse, and while we’ve already got plenty of ideas about what we want to put through them… we want to hear yours too!

So, Donny and beyond, what do you want us pulling? 👀

🍻 WE’RE HIRING AT THE RAILWAY ALEHOUSE! 🚂

Fancy joining a brand-new independent, family owned alehouse from the very beginning?

We’re looking for a friendly, dependable and enthusiastic person to join our team in a casual bar-support role 🙌

The role is all about helping us deliver the kind of experience we want The Railway Alehouse to be known for, making and serving drinks, welcoming customers, carrying out general bar duties and maintaining our friendly, attentive standards. You'll also help keep the bar stocked, clean and running smoothly, including collecting & washing glasses throughout the shift.

🌙 A varied bar-support and drinks-service roll
📅 Regular Friday and Saturday shifts
➕ Opportunities for additional hours as we get busier

It could be ideal for someone looking for flexible work alongside college, university, another job or other commitments.

No previous bar experience is essential. A positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to get stuck in matter much more, we can teach you the rest! 😊

Amongst our plethora of lines at The Railway Alehouse, we’ll have a dedicated rotating Belgian b**r line - and we cannot WAIT to start filling it!

Tripels. Dubbels. Blondes. Saisons. Lambics. Trappist ales. Big, beautiful Belgian oddities… if we can get it on keg, it’s fair game 👀🇧🇪

🚂 PROGRESS UPDATE #003

We’ve reached a bit of a milestone… the bulk of the dirty work is DONE! 🙌

We’re finally leaving the scraping, stripping and demolition behind and heading into the much more exciting decorating and installation phase 😍

Some of the brand-spanking-new furniture has already landed, the new cellar chillers have been dropped into place, and the bar installation is officially on the horizon🍻

Last week we also had two brilliant local businesses getting involved - Blokheds and SPJ Marketing - and we genuinely cannot wait to show you what they’ve been working on 👀

This week?

More graft. More installations. Another lick of paint and…

Hey Doncaster & beyond 👋 it’s time for progress update #002 🚂

A few weeks on… and it’s amazing what a bit more hard graft can achieve.

The fixed seating has now been completely removed, opening up the room in a way we’ve never seen before. It’s incredible how much bigger the space feels already.

Meanwhile, the original tiled floor continues to surprise us. More hours of scraping, cleaning and plenty of elbow grease have uncovered even more of the original tilework. The decorative borders are beginning to reveal themselves, and every patch we clean makes us even more determined to save as much of it as possible.

We’ve also now fully stripped the bar front back to bare timber and we think it looks pretty stunning, and once we’ve got a coat or two of yacht varnish on it…👌

One thing this project has taught us already? Buildings like this don’t give up their history easily. Every feature has to be earned!

Thanks for following the journey so far. We’re only just getting started, and we’ve got plenty more progress to share over the coming weeks.

Welcome to our first official Railway progress update! 🚂

Over the coming weeks (and months!) we’ll be sharing the highs, the lows, and everything in between as we transform this old pub into The Railway Alehouse.

These past few weeks have been all about what lies beneath…

The carpet has gone. The lino has gone. And now we’re painstakingly stripping away decades of stubborn bitumen to reveal the original Victorian floor hiding underneath.

It’s filthy, painstaking work (especially in this heat 🥵) and cleaning every tile is taking far longer than we’d ever imagined. But every little patch we uncover reminds us exactly why we’re doing it. These floors have been hidden away for years. Soon, they’ll be one of the features we’re most proud of 💪

We’ve also made a start stripping back the front of the bar, ready for the cellar team to begin the fit-out. We reckon a proper timber bar deserves to be shown off 😍

This is just the beginning. Thanks for following the journey, we can’t wait to show you what comes next!

🚂 Ayup Doncaster!

After months of planning, we’re delighted to finally introduce The Railway Alehouse.

Coming to West Street in 2026, The Railway Alehouse will be a modern bar with a proper pub at its heart, taking inspiration from Doncaster’s rich railway heritage and the great British pub🍺

Like our sister site The Draughtsman Alehouse, expect proper cask ale, a cracking range of keg b**rs, bespoke wines, quality spirits, events space, and a welcoming place to meet, relax and enjoy a tipple or two.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing the journey as we bring the building back to life, from renovations and design ideas to b**r selections and opening plans.

We can’t wait to welcome you aboard 😁
