Sarah made a lovely Red Thai Chicken Curry for Spa Academy Askern, Askern Littlemoor Infant Academy and Askern Moss Road Infant Academy which went down really well. Packed with vegetables and served alongside white, brown rice and quinoa. Quinoa is a seed that is often called a super food due to it's high dietary fibre, excellent high quality complete protein and is rich in minerals too like potassium, zin and magnesium.

Please help us keep all our students safe by avoiding nuts in packed lunches and snacks brought into schools. For some students, even small traces can cause a serious allergic reaction.

We've been trying out a few brownie recipes, gluten free and made using tinned black beans of all things. We've tried one recipe using a combination of dark chocolate and cocoa, and one recipe using solely cocoa. And we've reduced the sugar content by 30% in both without any noticeable difference. There out for tasters today, so we'll see what the verdict is, but we think they taste great.

A few new salads Campsmount Academywhich have gone down very well, so much so we sold out. Chicken Caesar with Simone's very garlicky dressing. Tuna and Sweetcorn Salad with Watercress, and Whole Wheat Pasta Salad with Chicken and Red Pesto.

Nikki and the girls have turned out some lovely food this term at Campsmount Academy. With the upcoming new standards we've taken to trying out a few ideas. For mid morning break we made litte savoury wholewheat flour and polenta muffins, with things like bacon, cheese, spinach, corn, mushroom, spring onion filling which were well received. And the wholewhat pasta, with chicken, roasted veggies and sundried tomato pesto flew out today. Kayleigh's made some lovely cakes too, all with either fruit or veggie like the apricot buns and the courgette and chocolate.cocoa buns, and all made with 30% less sugar, along with a lovely blueberry ice cream. Todays lunch was roast beef and homemade yorkshire pudding courtesy of Pickerings Of Pontefract, so good it all went. And thank you to K.D.Davis & Sons - The Greengrocers for the lovely variety of fruit and veg. We've been introducing students to different fruits these past few weeks.

Old School Cottage Pie @ Campsmount Academy. With warmer weather coming we thought we'd give this pasta salad a go at Campsmount Academy. Wholewheat pasta, homemade nut free pesto, sundried tomatoes and chicken. We use baby spinach and kale in the pesto and once that's made it's as easy as mixing everything together for a yummy salad.

Trying a few new things out at Campsmount Academy. This one's a Mexican style mixed bean wrap, with spiced roast sweet potatoes coriander sour cream, spinach, and pickled red onions. So as to make them a little more appealing we've also added chicken. As the filling is mostly vegetable derived there's more of it so students are getting real value for money.

Nikki and the girls turned out another lovely lunch today at Campsmount Academy which has gone down well!. Tandoori Chicken wrap with a pilau rice, raita and kachumber salad. Grab and Go was a sweet potato and onion bhaji. And we couldn't have picked a more perfect day for dessert which was homemade mango ice cream, and the veg man had surplus strawberries which we kindly took off his hands and turned into Eton-ish mess again.
