📢 OPENING DAY DELAYED 📢

☕ Longs Café Update ☕

We are very sorry, but due to some final snagging work still being completed, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our opening day by 24 hours.

Everything will be finished today, however it won't be completed until later this afternoon and we want to make sure everything is perfect before welcoming our customers.

We will now officially open at 8:00 AM on Tuesday.

Thank you for all the support, excitement and understanding. We know many of you were looking forward to visiting us and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.

❤️ We can't wait to welcome you through our doors tomorrow morning.

Today we visited the bridge to pay our respects and leave a small tribute from everyone at Longs Café and Theresa's Market Café.

Seeing the flowers, messages, balloons and tributes left by members of our local community was truly heartbreaking. It shows just how much love and support there is for Mackenzie and his family during this incredibly difficult time.

We left our own messages of love and remembrance and joined so many others in paying our respects to a young boy who will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts remain with Mackenzie’s family, friends, classmates and everyone affected by this tragic loss.

Rest peacefully, Mackenzie. 💛🕊️

We're really excited to finally be opening our doors on Monday and we'd love your input! ❤️

From day one we'll have a large menu available including:

🥓 Full English Breakfasts
🍳 Breakfast Muffins
🌯 Fresh Wraps
🥪 Toasted Paninis
🥗 Salad Boxes
🥔 Jacket Potatoes
🍟 Homemade Chips & Sides
☕ Hot & Cold Drinks
🍰 Cakes & Sweet Treats

We'll also have our regular mains available, including:

🥩 8oz Steak served with homemade chips, onion rings, mushrooms, peas and salad.

🍳 Gammon, Egg & Chips with thick-cut gammon, two eggs, homemade chips and garden peas.

🥓 Slow-Cooked Belly Pork served with seasoned rice and homemade beans flavoured to your choice.

🌭 Butchers' Sausages & Creamy Mash smothered in rich onion gravy and served with peas.

🍖 Pork Steaks cooked to order and served with chips, vegetables and homemade gravy.

For opening day our daily specials will be:

🍝 Homemade Lasagne with garlic bread and salad.

🥧 Traditional Cottage Pie with vegetables and rich gravy.

🍛 Homemade Chicken Curry served with rice, chips or half and half.

🧅 Sausage, Liver & Onions with creamy mash and onion gravy.

🥧 Meat & Potato Pie served with chips, mushy peas and gravy.

Just a little note – our daily specials will usually come out quicker than dishes such as belly pork, pork steaks and some of our other mains. That's because those meals are cooked completely fresh to order and can take up to 30 minutes.

At Longs Café we serve fresh food, not fast food. ❤️

Our daily specials are prepared fresh every morning, allowing us to serve them more quickly while still keeping the homemade quality we're aiming for.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Mackenzie's family and friends following this devastating news.

No words can truly ease the pain of losing someone so young. As a community, we stand together in support of those who knew and loved him during this incredibly difficult time.

We would also like to thank all the emergency services, specialist teams, and volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the search.

Rest in peace, Mackenzie. ❤️A truly tragic outcome. Thinking of everyone in Mexborough today. 💔

From old stained ceiling tiles, exposed wires and a tired looking kitchen… to this 😍🔥

The transformation of the Longs Cafe kitchen is well underway and we honestly couldn’t be prouder of how far it’s come already!

Everything has been stripped back, cleaned up and rebuilt to create a fresh, modern and much more professional working space 👨‍🍳✨

✅ New stainless steel finish
✅ Bright modern lighting
✅ Fresh ceiling panels
✅ New workspaces & prep areas
✅ A cleaner, safer and more efficient kitchen

It’s taken a lot of hard work, long days and late nights but it’s all starting to come together now 🙌

We can’t wait to show you the finished result and welcome you all back properly ❤️

Yes… this used to be the old toilet room right next to the kitchen 😳🤢

But not anymore 🙌💚

After ripping everything out, rebuilding and giving the space a full transformation, this room is now becoming our dedicated wash area 🧼✨

No toilets anywhere near our kitchen now 😅
Just the dishwasher left to fit and this room will finally be complete 👏

The amount of work that’s gone into transforming Longs Cafe has been unreal, but seeing these before and after photos makes it all worthwhile ❤️
