Can you help us uncover a little more of Debenham’s history? 🏡

We’ve recently been researching the history of 2 and 4 High Street, Debenham, now The Old Toll House and Bruford’s of Debenham.

We’ve discovered some fascinating things about the buildings and their connection with Debenham’s historic market, but now we’d love to fill in another part of their story: the people who lived and worked here.

Do you remember either building?

Perhaps you lived here, worked here, visited one of the businesses, or remember someone who did.

We know that more recently No. 4 has been home to Meraki Hair, and before that Cleo’s restaurant, an estate agent and a television shop, but we’d love to go further back and put some names, dates and stories to both buildings.

We’d particularly love to hear from anyone who has:

• memories of No. 2 or No. 4 High Street
• photographs showing either building
• old receipts, advertisements or documents
• memories of businesses that traded here
• stories about people who lived or worked here

Even the smallest detail might help us piece the story together.
