What a glorious celebration of the harvest we had here at The Lion last week. With venison from Helmingham , wine from Burnt House Vineyard , veg from Cam | Five Rod Farm 🌱 , bread from ACRE FARM + BAKERY and fruit from Sam Surl and my own garden as well as some gorgeous cheese from the Salisbury family herd and honey from Crows Hall Celebrations & Stays it was wonderful to see and appreciate so many of our local growers, farmers and producers.

⭐️Quiz Night - 30th July⭐️

Hi everyone, Alice of the quiz here!
Leonora has kindly let me write a post for the next quiz on 30th July.
As always I have been busy trying my best to put together a wonderfully weird quiz for you all to enjoy! Rounds next week will include Suffolk Life and a new ‘Animals’ round, with the return of the revered Classic Cars Picture Round, joined with Craft & Skills, and an exciting surprise round with the chance to win back your team’s entry fee in ⭐️CASH!!⭐️ as well as some special botanical prizes for Name That Tune 😊
Also a quick note on logistics, I know we’ve had a couple of timing and temperature issues of late, for which we apologise. Please be assured we have addressed these, and hope to welcome lots of you to a smooth and cool quiz next Thursday.

Introducing the Chevallier Pale Ale! Made exclusively from Chevallier Barley (it is part of the grain blend in all of their other beers), it pays homage to the first commercially viable malting barley ever grown, which happened to be on the Aspall estate in the 1820’s under the watchful eye of Henry & Barry’s great, great, great grandfather the Reverend John ‘Barley’ Chevallier. Chevallier Barley went on to become the mainstay of global brewing for 120 years. Usurped by higher yielding varieties in the 1950’s, Chevallier is now making a comeback and is highly revered by brewers and drinkers alike for the rich malt and nutty character it adds to the beer brewed from it.

The beer itself is a delight - Light in colour with a generous malty character. Dry hopped with Idaho 7 to give bold aromas of mango, apricot and a touch of pine to finish. Pop down and sample a pint! 🍻

It’s Wine Wednesday tomorrow. A rosé special taking place in our sunny courtyard to better enjoy the summeriest of wines (6pm, pls book online). For those of a sportier bent, the football will be on in the Great Hall from 5pm. Something for all the family - cheers!
