The situation mentioned did indeed happen, and we are so chuffed that someone noticed the patience, kindness and grace with which it was handled and took the time to recognise it.

A wee word about your wait… from the woman behind the grill 😬❤️

We’ve all become used to food arriving in 5–10 minutes, and we understand that when you’re hungry, every minute feels longer!
But here are five wee things about how our kitchen works:

Prepped doesn’t mean ready to serve.
We do plenty before you arrive! But having sauces made and ingredients prepared still leaves the cooking, toasting, assembling and finishing of your meal.

Different kitchens work differently.
Fast-food chains have equipment and systems built around speedy service. In our wee kitchen, our menu, equipment and the work each plate needs determine how quickly we can serve you.

Cooking time is only part of the wait.
Your order joins others already being prepared. If the grill is full, we can’t squeeze another meal on by giving it a stern look… believe me, I’ve tried 🤣

Different dishes take different amounts of time.
And when a table orders several different meals, we’re also working to have them ready together, so nobody is watching everyone else eat!

The finishing touches are part of your meal.
Getting your eggs right, your toastie golden and your plate checked before it leaves the kitchen all takes care and attention.

We’ll always work to get your food out as quickly as we can, while keeping the quality and consistency you come here for. We know your time matters too, and if you’re concerned about your wait, please speak to us. ❤️

Mondays are my day off, they said…

Meanwhile, The Wee Olive looks like a delivery depot and I’ve got a date with approximately 100 boxes 🤣

All this means one thing: we’re getting stocked up for the week ahead!
Now, if anyone needs me, I’ll be somewhere behind that mountain… probably wondering where I put the scissors 🤭❤️
