Important Update for Our Honiton Customers

Dear Honiton Customers,

We wanted to explain why we have had to make some changes to our opening hours.

The current two-hourly train timetable is having a significant impact on our ability to staff and operate the shop. Two of our four team members who cover Honiton rely on the train to get to work, and with the reduced service, they are unable to arrive in time to open for the early trains.

On a normal timetable, we would see considerably more trains and therefore more customers. At present, the number of trains has effectively been more than halved, which has had a direct impact on our customer numbers and sales.

We have had to adapt our opening hours until the train service returns to normal:

Monday–Friday: 8:30am – 2:20pm
Saturday: Closed
Sunday: Closed

Unfortunately, with the reduced footfall, it is currently not financially viable for us to remain open on Saturdays.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and, as a local business, we really appreciate your continued support.

We sincerely hope that SWR will be able to resume a normal service as soon as possible**, allowing our staff to get to work and, importantly, bringing more passengers back to Honiton.

Customer Notice!! 🚂

From Monday 10 August, South Western Railway will be operating a temporary reduced timetable on the West of England Line due to speed restrictions caused by the prolonged hot, dry weather affecting the railway infrastructure.

As two small independent businesses based at Axminster and Honiton stations, these changes are likely to have a significant impact on passenger numbers. During this period, we will be relying more than ever on the continued support of our local communities.

We will do everything we can to continue operating as normal, but if the reduction in passenger numbers begins to have a significant financial impact on the business, we may have to review and adapt our opening hours. Any changes would only be made if absolutely necessary.

This should be one of the busiest times of the year for the hospitality industry, yet these timetable changes are another major challenge for independent businesses along the West of England Line. We know we are not alone, and our thoughts are with all the cafés, shops, pubs, restaurants and other local businesses that rely on visitors and rail passengers.

Whether you're travelling by train, meeting friends for breakfast, grabbing a coffee, or simply choosing to support a local independent business, every visit really does make a difference.

We're looking for a Team Member to join our friendly team, working across our Axminster and Honiton sites.

Hours: 15 – 30 hours per week

Essential Requirements:
Previous Barista Experience is essential – please do not apply if you do not have barista experience.

Cooking Experience in a Busy Cafe Environment is a Bonus!!

Aged 18 or over Only

Must be able to work on a rota basis between 7:15am and 3:15pm over 7 Days

Flexible and able to work across both our Axminster and Honiton sites.

Friendly, reliable and able to thrive in a busy, customer-focused environment.

We are delighted to announce that this week we received 5-star food hygiene ratings at both Axminster and Honiton.

Since we began trading in 2022, we have never received anything less than 5 stars, something we are incredibly proud of and a real reflection of the hard work, dedication, and high standards maintained every single day.
