Yo ho me hearties. Today is “National speak like a Pirate Day!” so we rrrrrr offering one free pint of beer to the first 5 people coming into the pub today and ordering in a pirate voice. Some pirate fashion might also get you a free beer.

We often get asked do you sell wine and yes we do, it’s not all about cask and keg ales.
As well as what ales are starting our weekend off,we will introduce our fantastic exclusive wine range to Bude what we stock as well.🥂
So we have Potion no9 from Penzance Brewing Company, Meor IPA from St Ives Brewery, Du Fowen Stout from Castle Brewery and Cornwall Pride from Tintagel Brewery
Doors open at 4pm and tonight from 7pm we have Irish music hosted by Harry and his clan.

We love welcoming familiar acts back to the Barrel but we’re also excited when we’ve someone new. This Sunday it’s Harriet Larkin a musical project fronted by singer songwriter Harri Tape. Originally from Morwenstow and Bude, Harri & her bandmate Abi followed their dream of music all the way to Sheffield where they went on to have their entire debut album “beach city” broadcast on BBC introducing & their latest single “ Too close to the sun” hailed track of the week across BBC Leeds & Sheffield.

They have performed at major UK festivals including Isle of Wight, Truck, Tramlines, Ynot & Victorious.

Harri & Abi will be heading back to Bude and performing stripped down versions of their full band tracks with some funky, jazzy covers thrown in for good measure. Think upbeat, summery sounds, funky acoustic guitar & soaring harmonies.

Their music is available to listen to on Spotify/ Apple Music/ YouTube or any other streaming site, check out their YouTube for some live sessions or follow their journey on social media just search “Harri Larkin”

As I said we also like welcoming back old friends too so on Friday we’ve got the Barrel Tappers from 7:00 pm.

We’ll be starting the weekend with a couple of beers from Mine Brewery: Consols is a traditional Cornish bitter, then we have their Core a pale ale and then another new cask offering from Firebrand, High Note an extra pale ale. If you’re after something darker we’ve got Sea Salt Stout in cans from Atlantic Brewery. We’ve also got a pale ale from Howl Brewery- Good Times, another limited edition on keg.

We’re back to our usual opening schedule this week. Our music is back in its usual rhythm too. We have music from The Barrel Tappers on Friday and on Sunday it’s Barrel favourite Ben Banford bidding farewell to the Barrel for a wee while as he heads off on his adventures. It’s the first Monday of the month so that can only mean Open Mic night. James Dixon will be on ringmaster duties. Should be a good one.

So Tuesday week we head off to Widecombe Fair which is a very traditional country fair with Uncle Tom Cobbly and all, that’s the 8th September.
So we have 6 seats left if anyone wants to come along, it will be £20 per bus seat and £12 on the gate, we will be leaving the Barrel at 9am, 9.10am from Stratton bus stop and expected time back 9.30-10pm
