Sometimes you hear something when you least expect it that perfectly puts into words what I’ve been trying to build.
I was watching Manifest on Netflix when this conversation stopped me:
“It feels wrong.”
“Joy is never wrong.”
…
“Remember her and laugh.
That way, she’ll live forever.”
And I immediately thought, that’s Jean’s Caff.
Jean’s Caff has never been about creating a place centred on sadness.
It’s about remembering people through the good things.
Their stories. Their photographs. The food they loved. The things they used to say. The moments that still make us laugh years later.
Because remembrance can be joyful.
One of the beliefs at the heart of Jean’s Caff has always been:
“You die two times, once when your body gives up, and the second is the last time someone mentions your name.”
The idea behind our Memory Walls, our community stories and even the names that will eventually appear across our menus all comes back to that.
Keep telling the stories.
Keep saying their names.
And, most importantly, remember them and laugh. ❤️
Because maybe that’s one of the ways the people we love really do live forever.
