The National Education Union has published research stating:

"It found schools were increasingly stepping in to fill the poverty gap, with almost half of the 900 respondents saying their school offered one or more anti-poverty services such as a food bank, clothes bank or even offering emergency loans to families."

"We call it survival," head teachers say as they describe how poverty-hit pupils are forced to take food.

Not only does our project re-distribute food to people who need it and give families in Bristol healthy and nourishing meals through the week, but we are also saving this food from landfills where it's carbon footprint is unnecessarily harmful to the environment. We need more initiatives like these! And don't forget that the market is on today from 2.30-4.30 at the Assisi Centre/Borderlands

Does anyone have a small mountain of old plastic bags that they have sitting at home?? We tried paper bags but... wet weather + heavy butternut squash + other weighty veg = bag breakage = unhelpful carrying medium. Many people bring heavy duty bag for life and they blooming well fill'em! Yeah so bags please...
