Thank you all for your kind comments on our last post it truly means a lot.
We would also like to say that the new owners are equally as committed and dedicated. The new head chef and his team have worked alongside Jimmy and have learned all his recipes and will continue to cook the same dishes and sauces that have been served over the years. I am sure they will be welcomed by the community of Bonnyrigg as we were over the last 32 years.

Following the recent news of Jimmy’s retirement we would also like to announce new ownership of the Hong Kong Takeaway. It has not been an easy decision for us but we feel the time is right to move on and close this chapter on a high. Mostly we would to say how much of a pleasure it has been to be a part of the community for the last 32 years. But most importantly thank you to all the loyal and friendly customers we have had over the years. Without you guys we would never have been so successful and established. During the 32 years we feel so fortunate to have had such regular customers and good friends. We are truly going to miss you all and would love to wish you all the best for the future.
We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome the new owners, Linda and her team. They intend to continue the business as a going concern, and we wish them all the very best and hopefully they have as many happy years as we did.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Jimmy the head chef and founder of The Hong Kong Takeaway is ready to start his retirement at the youthful age of 80. After 32 years of hard work and dedication at the shop on Bonnyrigg High Street and 30 years of previous successful businesses, he feels ready to hang up his apron. He is very proud of what he has accomplished and achieved in the 62 years of his career. During this time he has met a lot of loyal customers but most importantly many special friends, all of whom he will greatly miss.
Jimmy would like to say “goodbye and hopefully i’ll meet these good friends and work colleagues once again. Although I am excited for new beginnings, I also feel a bit sad to say goodbye. I am going to miss everybody, and I am taking away with me many special memories.”
Massive Congratulations to Jimmy and hope you enjoy your well deserved retirement.
Jimmy, you will be extremely missed at the shop.
