🌊📚 Wonderful news for Seaside Shuffle!
It’s been quite a week for our Seaside Shuffle anthology with two lovely media features!

First, Seaside Shuffle appeared in The Gazette, and now we’ve made it onto the radio too! 🎙️

Ellis from Hawkwood Books and David Hogarth were guests on Nishma’s show on BBC Radio Lancashire, talking about the book and the project.

And with Blackpool celebrating its famous Illuminations Switch-On, there couldn’t have been a more perfect choice of reading - Ellis shared Linda Hampton’s poem “Illuminations” from the anthology. ✨❤️

Snapshots of Rebellion - exhibition created by photographers who joined our monthly photo walks is still on display at Tea Amantes – Community Arts and can be viewed during InkDen opening hours.

Following the flooding in May, renovation work is still ongoing and our kitchen remains closed. But although we’ve had to put the food side of Tea Amantes on hold, our arts and community space continues.

We’ve opened the space to local artists, creatives and community projects, and we’d love to see even more happening here. So, if you have an idea for a workshop, exhibition, creative gathering or community event, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s keep creating, meeting and bringing people together.

New anthology celebrates 'wacky-world' of Blackpool through anecdotes and tales to tell

🎨✨ WATERCOLOUR PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN – Painting Workshop with Kasia Nowak.

Have you always wanted to paint, but never quite knew where to start? Or maybe you’re one of those people who says, “I can’t paint”?

Then this workshop might be exactly for you.

Starting this November, artist Kasia Nowak invites you to a warm and relaxed watercolour workshop at Tea Amantes – Community Arts.

Step by step, Kasia will guide you through creating your own portrait of a woman — from the first sketch, through adding colour, all the way to beautiful golden finishing touches.

No pressure. No need for previous experience. Just create at your own pace.

As Kasia explains: “I’ll show you step by step how to create a portrait of a woman from sketch, through colour, to the final golden details.
Maybe along the way you’ll discover something about yourself. Maybe you’ll learn to look at yourself a little more gently. Or perhaps you’ll simply spend some time in a warm, friendly and creative atmosphere.
If you’ve been wanting to start painting but don’t know how or you’re convinced that you can’t paint come and give it a try. I’ll be very happy to meet you at the easel.”

🧘 Sound Bath & Meditation with Singing Bowls at Tea Amantes

Our Sound Bath & Meditation session with Adam Clark is returning to Tea Amantes – Community Arts this November. 🌿✨

If you’ve been feeling busy, stressed or simply need some time to slow down, join us for an hour of calming sounds, gentle vibrations and peaceful meditation in the heart of Blackpool.

Adam will guide the session using singing bowls, creating a relaxing soundscape where you can switch off from the everyday rush, get comfortable and simply enjoy the moment.

📚 Seaside Shuffle returns to St Annes! This time we’ll meet at Urban St Annes CIC, a creative community space dedicated to fostering growth, inspiration and connection through art, music and drama. Values that are also very close to what we’re building at Tea Amantes – Community Arts in Blackpool.

Steven, Lorraine and Linda will be there to tell you more about Seaside Shuffle, how the project came together and the people behind it.

And there are quite a few of us! 37 people contributed to this book, each bringing a little piece of themselves — their memories, imagination, experiences, observations and creativity.
During the evening, you’ll also hear selected poems and extracts from stories featured in the book.

Expect plenty of humour, local stories and curiosities, memories and reflections, and perhaps a few thoughts and experiences that feel surprisingly close to your own.

Seaside Shuffle is about us, our seaside community, and it’s for you.
Come along, meet some of the people behind the book, have a chat and support local writers, poets and creatives.
Copies of Seaside Shuffle will also be available to buy on the evening.

And this certainly won’t be our last gathering. More events are coming soon, so stay with us and keep supporting local creativity.
