🔧 Keeping the van in top condition! 🍦🚐
Today it's in the workshop for an oil change and new rear brakes, making sure everything is ready for another busy week of serving the community.
I believe reliability and safety are just as important as great ice cream. See you all on the road very soon! ☀️🍦💙

☀️ Otley, we're back! 🍦🚐
The sunshine has arrived, and so have we!
📍 From 3:30 PM today, I'll be covering my usual round around Otley & Pool in Wharfedale.
🌡️ With temperatures reaching 29°C today and up to 31°C over the next couple of days, it's the perfect excuse to treat yourself to an ice cream! 🍦😎
💬 Would you like the van to visit your street? Leave your street name in the comments below, and I'll do my best to include it in today's route.
⏰ Please note that due to the size of today's route, I may reach some locations as late as around 8:00 PM, but I'll do my very best to get to as many of you as possible.
🎪 This Sunday (13th July) you'll also find us at the Ashfield Primary School Summer Fair from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM. A fantastic family day out with circus shows, games, entertainment, food, and of course... plenty of delicious ice cream! 🍦🎉

Customer: "How much for a 99 with a Flake?"
Me: "£2.50."
Customer: "Will you do it for £2?"

For that £2.50, you're not just paying for an ice cream...

You're paying for:

✅ The ice cream van
✅ The diesel
✅ The vehicle insurance
✅ The business insurance
✅ The freezer running all day
✅ The ice cream, Flakes, cones and toppings
✅ The card machine fees
✅ The stock that keeps going up in price
✅ The food hygiene standards
✅ The tax bill
✅ The accountant
✅ The phone bill
✅ The fuel driving around hoping the weather plays ball
✅ The maintenance when the van breaks down (and it does break down!)
✅ The paperwork nobody ever sees
✅ The long days in the heat
✅ The quiet days when it rains and hardly anyone comes out
✅ The endless effort of keeping a small family business going

And after all that...

Someone wants to knock 50p off because 'back in their day...' 🫠

The funny part?

People will happily spend £5 or £6 on a coffee without thinking twice, or £4 or £5 for the same ice cream at the park or at the seaside

But somehow £2.50 for an ice cream served to your doorstep is "too expensive."

We're not trying to get rich. We're just trying to keep the van on the road, the freezer cold and put smiles on people's faces.

If you can negotiate cheaper diesel, insurance, stock prices and HMRC bills for us, we'd genuinely love to know how! 😅
