Billingshurst Community Larder

Billingshurst Community Larder Billingshurst Community Larder's priority is to prevent food waste and distribute USABLE food to our community.

All adults are welcome to collect free food - children must be accompanied. We are unable to admit Weald School students to the larder. The Billingshurst Community Larder is supported by:

The Billingshurst Community Partnership (BCP) and Billigreen
The Weald School

The group consists of volunteers who help with the following tasks;

Food collection and handling - driving to the retailer or other outlet to collect and load food; taking to our distribution point to unload and store correctly. Food display and distribution - setting up the donated food ready for the public distribution session. Cleaning and ensuring that everything is hygienic and safe. Our volunteers have had Food Handling and Hygiene training and training will be available for future volunteers. Manual Handling training will be given to those who need it. The Larder is registered as a food business and carries appropriate insurance.

As they say in show biz, back by popular demand......it's the Billingshurst Community Larder appearing at School House, The Weald TOMORROW! Rush down from 10 am until 12 to find free food. It's Wednesday.....it's 10 o'clock.....it's Larder time! We open again tomorrow from 10 am until 12 noon for you to find free food items. Come along to the School House at the Weald to collect from our haul kindly donated by retail partners Lidl, Sainsburys and Tesco. We never know what will come in but look at our morning posts for pictures. If you haven't been to us before, all are welcome as the project is about reducing food waste. Be a food waste warrior and join us tomorrow!

As part of the Better Billingshurst Programme, Horsham District Council is working with Billingshurst Parish Council to deliver Open Space and Play Improvements at Lower Station Road Recreation Ground, Station Road Community Gardens and Jubilee Fields.

They want your feedback to help shape the proposals and ensure the projects meet the needs of the community.

The consultation will be open from 14 - 28 September

Wednesday means it's Community Larder time again. Please note that we are back to our regular hours of 10 am until 12 at School House. We collect unwanted food from our retail partners and distribute on Wednesday - all food is free to collectors. We do set a limit on items to make it fair to all, but this can consist of several pieces eg bread rolls, per item. Find out for yourself tomorrow!
