Bromham Mill & Café: latest update

Firstly, please can we extend a sincere thank you to everyone that has responded so passionately to the series of Facebook posts calling for support to keep the mill and café open.

We, like you, consider the mill and café to be a hub of the community and all of us thoroughly enjoy and fully appreciate everything the facility has to offer. So many individuals, whether it be paid staff, volunteers or members of the public have worked incredibly hard to make the facility what it is today.

For the last four years, perhaps unbeknown to the community, the Parish Council has been locked in negotiations with the borough council to secure our own lease for the facility. A lease that would give us full autonomy to run the facility as we saw fit and ultimately to maximize the benefit it could bring to Bromham and the wider community.

To a large extent the future of the mill and café rests on our ability to secure this lease and subsequent to our Parish Council meeting last night when we discussed the future of the mill and café, the Mayor of Bedford has made contact with us to see how we can move discussions forward. This is a really positive outcome and as soon as we have more information to share with you we will.

In the meantime, should you have any further enquiries please contact us by email: [email protected].

Thank you again for your support.

Bromham Parish Council

Just heard they are planning to permanently close the Cafe. This would be a terrible loss. What are the reasons for this?

Arrived at 11.10 to be told there's a 30 min wait for breakfast. Not a problem. An hour and a half later the lady cooking the breakfasts brought out two, gave them to a couple who'd ordered after us,then informed us she was really sorry but they'd run out of food! (Yes,we got a refund) But sadly I don't think we'll be going back for breakfast. And the vegetarian on the other table was given two fry ups! 😳
Visited the cafe for the first time today with a group of cyclists. What a find! Shady idyllic setting next to the river with good food and friendly staff. My cycling group will be visiting again! 😀
