When a client tells you his wife is turning 60, loves padel tennis AND dachshunds, you know you have to come up with something special! He wanted a really personal birthday cake for her, so we brought both of her loves together into one very special cake a little padel tennis court with the cutest sausage dogs! One of the trickiest parts of this custom celebration cake was creating the padel court. It might look quite simple when you look at the finished cake, but there was a LOT of planning behind those colours and details. That tiny white gap between the different sections of the court had to be measured very carefully. When you’re working with cake and edible decorations, those little details can make a huge difference to the final result. And then came the dachshunds… I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for when I was trying to work out how to make these little dogs, so I had to figure it out myself. And honestly, one of the things I was most worried about was their little legs! 😅 Because they are standing on the cake, I was so nervous that their legs might break while I was putting everything together. Thankfully… they survived! And I’m so happy with how this bespoke 60th birthday cake turned out. This is one of those cakes that reminds me that a cake doesn’t have to look complicated to have a LOT of work, thought and planning behind it.
