Callum Mitchell's Pub Crawl Adventures Going to different pubs in different places to see what they are like as I miss the classic pub vibe.

Here is where I will give my review of the place, rate it and then recommend it to folk. Let me know if there is a pub you want me to go and try out.

The Kirky Puffer: A nice looking Wetherspoons pub located next to the Forth and Clyde across the road from Cowgate, near Farmfoods and within walking distance from the Lion and Star. I have seen this pub a few times when I am in Kirkintilloch as a friend of mine mentioned it to me and since it is a Wetherspoons, figured I give it a try and it is a nice place to drink in

Opening Times:
The pub is open every day from 8am-midnight
Service:
The service is really good as the bar, being a Wetherspoons can accommodate lots of customers on any day
Entertainment:
Unfortunately, because it is a Wetherspoons pub, they don't do entertainment, which is disappointing
Social Activities:
Since it is a Wetherspoons, they don't have a pool table, a jukebox and a darts board, but they do have a puggy and a couple of TVs. I did once see a darts board, but I am not sure if that was a one off or permanent, I don’t know about that one
Food:
They do food in the form of bar meals as it is one of Wetherspoons major aspects as well as serving breakfast, which did surprise me. I have tried the food and despite it being expensive, it is very enjoyable
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere is pretty good as, being a Wetherspoons pub, it feels very accommodating especially as it is located within walking distance from the Lion and Star. Not only that, but it feels pretty large as it is a big pub
People:
I don't really speak to anyone whenever I come here as I mainly intend of having one or two before heading back to Glasgow or if I am having a session in Kirkintilloch, but I would engage in conversation if anyone did speak to me

The Lismore Bar: Medium sized whiskey bar found across from the Quarter Gill and within walking distance from both the Storm Queen and the Bag O Nails. I first came here by chance when I was having a session in Partick and had seen this pub many times before. I do like coming in here as it is a good alternative to drink in Partick if I cannot get into the Quarter Gill, which does happen. Nonetheless, I do like the Lismore and will pop back in whenever I am in Partick

Opening Times:
The pub is open every day from 11am-midnight Monday-Thursday, 11am-1am on Fridays and Saturdays and 11am-midnight on Sundays
Service:
The service is pretty good as they have two bars, both at opposite ends of the pub wirh an overall view of the place, so the staff can serve multiple customers whichever end they are at
Entertainment:
I don't think the pub does entertainment as they don't really have the space for it, which is a bit disappointing but understandable. I am not sure if they ever did entertainment at all or if they stopped doing it, I don't know
Social Activities:
The pub doesn’t have a pool table, a jukebox, a darts board or a puggy, but they do have a couple of TVs
Food:
The pub doesn’t do food as they don't have a kitchen on the premise since there is not enough room for one, but you can have food from either the Storm Queen, the Quarter Gill or the Bag O Nails, as well as there is a Tesco across the road
Atmosphere:
Despite having no entertainment or social activities, the atmosphere in this pub is old-fashioned and very nice as the décor showcases the old style with a hint of modern flair mixed in. Also, many people come in groups so there is a social feeling added as well
People:
I have spoken to a few folk, both staff and customers who come here and they have been really sound. One time, I bumped into a couple of friends of mine from the Renfield who have never been here before and they liked it, afterwards, we ended up in the city centre until the early hours of the following morning

The Faerie Tree: Medium sized traditional pub and restaurant sitted within walking distance of the petrol station/garage as you come into Aberfoyle as well as the fire station, the bus stop, the Co-op and the Aberfoyle Inn. I have seen this place loads of times whenever I am on the bus to Stirling as well as several friends of mine either worked there or have drank in there before, so I decided to give it a try and will be back again whenever I fancy going to Aberfoyle

Opening Times:
The pub is open every day from 12pm-midnight Monday-Thursday, 12pm-1am on Fridays and Saturdays and 12pm-midnight on Sundays
Service:
The service is really good as the bar is in the centre and against the wall with an overall view of the restaurant area, so the staff can serve multiple customers wherever they are sitted
Entertainment:
The pub either does or did entertainment in the form of karaoke and live music. I don't know if they do it on a rare occasion, or if they stopped doing it aftera while, I'm not sure on that one
Social Activities:
The pub doesn’t have a jukebox or a puggy, but they do have a pool table, a darts board and a TV
Food:
The pub does food in the form of bar meals, since they have a restaurant area where customers can sit and enjoy. I have tried the food and despite being reasonably expensive, it is worth the price. They do food every day from 12pm-9pm, but will let the people know if they change the hours depending on the circumstances
Atmosphere:
As a traditional pub and restaurant, the place feels old fashioned yet cosy at the same time. Because it is in Aberfoyle and therefore, in the Trossachs, you get an outdoor wilderness vibe inside, which I very much enjoy as it feels pretty nice
People:
I don’t speak to anyone whenever I come in here, but I have spoken to a few folk, both staff and customers and they are really sound

The Captain's Bar: Small folk music pub located in the city centre whilst within a 5-10 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station. I first heard of this place from a good friend of mine, who drank there when he was either at university or enjoying a night out. I decided to give it a try with another friend of mine who has lived in Edinburgh for a good while and knows where to go for a few. I did enjoy this place and will hopefully come back the next time I'm in Edinburgh

Opening Times:
The pub is open every day from 2pm-1am Monday-Friday and Sundays and 1pm-1am on Saturdays
Service:
The service is pretty good as the bar itself is sort of in the centre and against the wall with an overall view, so the staff can serve customers wherever they are located
Entertainment:
Because it is a folk music bar, the pub does entertainment in the form of jam sessions and poem readings. Me and my friend enjoyed it as it was something different, however one thing to note is that the performers don't use microphones, but their normal voices, which is nice if you are close by, but somewhat ruined by others who are having a loud conversation, which makes it hard to hear.
Social Activities:
As the folk music acts as the pub's social aspect, the place doesn't have a pool table, a jukebox, a darts board or a puggy. They don't even have a TV
Food:
Due to the small stature of the place, they don't do food since they don't have a kitchen on the premises as there is no space to have one, but there are a few shops and takeaways nearby
Atmosphere:
Despite being a folk music bar and being pretty small, the atmosphere is really nice as the place feels like you are back in another time, more specifically, the pirate age, since there is a pirate theme in the décor. As well as that, being in Edinburgh feels strange, yet exciting since I mainly drink in either Stirling or Glasgow, so it was nice for a change of scenery
People:
When I came here with my friend, it felt sociable, but normally I wouldn't speak to anyone whenever I come in here, unless someone is willing to speak to me

The Wee Sporty Bar: Small/medium sports club within walking distance from the bus station and the city centre. I first came here when I decided to come to Perth and have a chance to drink here as I have seen this place lots of times whenever I am on the Citylink bus to Dundee, so I went in one day and although it is mainly for members, it is an alright place to go to

Opening Times:
The place doesn't have set opening hours as it changes depending on the circumstances, but they will at least give people notice about their opening hours so that way, folk know when to go to this place. They do always open Friday-Sunday
Service:
The service is pretty good as it is a sports club, the bar is in the corner with an overall view, so the staff can serve customers wherever they are located
Entertainment:
I don't think the place does entertainment as I haven't seen anything advertised, yet I have heard that they will do on occasion. If they do, they will have live music for special occasions e.g. Hogmanay parties, as well as karaoke and DJs, again that is one I am not sure about
Social Activities:
As it is a sports club, they don't have a pool table, but they do have a darts board as well as numerous TVs for various sports, but they also have a jukebox and a puggy, so there is that social factor added as well
Food:
The place doesn't do food as they don't have a kitchen on the premises, yet they might do sandwiches and maybe a buffet for either a pool or darts tournament, I am not sure on that one
Atmosphere:
Even though it is mostly a social club, it has a similar vibe to the Ellangowan, whereas if you are not a member, you need to sign in their book that they have at the entrance, which is not a problem. Despite that, the place feels nice, retro and cosy so there is a balance between both worlds
People:
When I first came in, I didn't speak to anyone, but the folk there, both staff and members all made me feel welcome and they are all pretty sound, so that was a nice feeling

The Rams Head: Medium sized pub and lounge across the road from the First & Last within walking distance from Maryhill train station. I have seen this pub millions of times whenever I am on the bus to Glasgow, and have never been in until earlier this year when I decided to give it a try and since then, I have enjoyed coming here and will pop in again

Opening Times:
The pub is open every day from 12pm-10pm Monday-Friday and 11am-10pm on Saturdays and Sundays
Service:
The service is really good as the bar is in the corner with an overall view of the place, so the staff can serve multiple customers whether the pub is busy or not and where they are sitting
Entertainment:
The pub does entertainment in the form of karaoke, bingo, live music, DJs as well as a psychic night and possiby quizzes. They will advertise what is on whether it is during the week or on the weekend
Social Activities:
The pub has a pool table, a jukebox, a couple of puggies, a darts board and a couple of TVs
Food:
The place does food in the form of bar meals and takeaway as they have a kitchen on the premises known as 'Wee Maggie's', which I have tried and enjoyed and it is also very well priced. Wee Maggie's is open every day from 12pm-4pm Monday-Thursday and 12pm-5pm Friday-Sunday
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere in this pub is really nice as it is a Celtic pub, since the décor had lots of references to Celtic. Despite that, the place feels nice and modern whilst having that classic Glasgow pub vibe mixed in, since the pub is in Maryhill
People:
I don’t speak to anyone whenever I come in here, but I have spoken to a few folk, both staff and customers and they are all sound

First & Last Pub Maryhill: Medium sized pub and lounge across the road from the Rams Head within walking distance from Maryhill train station. I have seen this pub millions of times whenever I am on the bus to Glasgow, and have never been in until earlier this year when I decided to give it a try and since then, I have enjoyed coming here and will pop in again

The pub is open every day from 11am-11pm Monday-Thursday, 11am-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and 12:30pm-11pm on Sundays

The service is really good as the bar is in the corner with an overall view of the place, so the staff can serve multiple customers whether the pub is busy or not and where they are sitting
Entertainment:
The pub does entertainment in the form of karaoke, live music and possibly quizzes. They will host it on the weekends and will advertise what is on via a black board in the bar, so keep an eye out for that

Atmosphere:
The atmosphere in this pub is really nice as I believe it is a Rangers pub, due to the charity bucket they have that has the logo on it, yet the décor feels grounded and like a normal friendly pub. On the outside, they have a wall that features a mural of Andy Capp which you can see from a distance, so it gives the pub a bit of character
People:
I don’t speak to anyone whenever I come in here, but I have spoken to a few folk, both staff and customers and they are all sound
