About The Pointer Inn
The Pointer Inn is a welcoming traditional village pub offering quality home-cooked food, excellent service, and a warm community atmosphere. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Full-Time Chef to join our kitchen team and help deliver high-quality meals using fresh ingredients.
Role Overview
As a Chef at The Pointer Inn, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking delicious dishes, maintaining high food quality standards, and ensuring the kitchen operates safely and efficiently. You’ll work closely with the management team to create a memorable dining experience for every guest.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, cook and present food to a consistently high standard.
* Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
* Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes and portion specifications.
* Assist with menu planning and seasonal specials.
* Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock rotation.
* Minimise food waste and control kitchen costs.
* Work efficiently during busy lunch, dinner and weekend services.
* Ensure compliance with Food Safety, HACCP and Health & Safety regulations.
* Support and mentor junior kitchen staff where required.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Previous experience as a Chef in a pub, restaurant or hospitality environment.
* Passion for producing quality, freshly prepared food.
* Good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
* Ability to work calmly under pressure.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
* Flexible to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Desirable Qualifications
* Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
* Experience with traditional British pub food.
* Experience managing stock and ordering.
* Knowledge of allergen regulations.
