🎉 G’s Bistro Cafe is 2 years old today… and I still can’t quite believe it. ❤️
Two years ago, I opened these doors with a dream, a lot of hope and absolutely no idea where this journey would take me.
If our first year was a whirlwind, this second year has been, without a doubt, the hardest of my life. There have been days full of laughter, but there have also been tears. Days when I wondered if I had the strength to carry on, and whether all the hard work and sacrifices were really worth it.
And then… there was you.
The people who walked through the door asking, “How are you?” The ones who came in for a coffee and stayed for a chat. The people who, without even realising it, gave me the encouragement I needed to unlock the door again the following morning.
To everyone in Sucina who has supported us from the very beginning… thank you. So many of you arrived as customers, but today I proudly call you friends, and some of you have become family. I will never be able to thank you enough for standing beside me when I needed it most.
To those of you who come back every year on holiday and make G’s your first stop for breakfast, brunch or dinner… thank you. Knowing that you look forward to coming back, and even asking me to make dishes that have become “your” dishes, is one of the greatest compliments I could ever receive.
That is what G’s means to me.
It’s never just been about coffee, breakfasts or dinners.
It’s about the hugs instead of handshakes. The conversations that last far longer than expected. The friendships that have been made around these tables. It’s about creating a little piece of home in Sucina, where everyone is welcome and nobody feels like a stranger.
I also want to thank those who came once and never returned. Every experience teaches us something. You helped us improve, adapt, grow and become better at what we do.
And to every single person who has worked alongside me over these past two years—thank you. Some of you are still part of this family, while others have taken different paths. Every one of you has left something behind, and every experience has taught me valuable lessons. Some were wonderful, some were difficult, but all of them helped shape the person and the business we are today.
I’m not going to pretend this journey has always been easy. Running a small independent café means facing challenges, criticism and moments when people doubt you. But I’ve learnt that the best answer is not words—it’s hard work, kindness and never giving up.
Two years later… we’re still here.
A little wiser, a little stronger, probably with a few more grey hairs… but still chasing the same dream we started with.
Thank you to every single person who has walked through our doors, recommended us, celebrated birthdays with us, shared a Sunday roast, enjoyed a breakfast before heading to the beach or simply chosen to spend a little part of their day with us.
You are G’s.
As long as you keep walking through that door, we’ll keep making the coffee, cooking your favourite breakfasts and welcoming you with the same love and passion we had on day one.
