SOLMAR, "low profile" famous restaurant

Located at Avenida da Praia Grande, center of Macau, Solmar Restaurant founded in 1961 was originally an exclusive club for political and business elites. Later on, their dishes became so popular that upon public request they opened up their business and became one of Macau's well-known old brand Portuguese restaurants. Although it has transformed into a business restaurant from an exclusive club, Solmar still maintain its "celebrities" style, keeping its classically elegant and relaxed Portuguese style interior decoration. Its food adheres to the Macanese characteristic flavor, early in the 80's the restaurant has been awarded the French Food Award by the French Food Culture Association, recently the restaurant has been awarded the honor of special member by the Macanese Gastronomy Confraternity, highly respected as a traditional Portuguese Restaurant in Macau. The restaurant has been awarded the Medal of Honor for the contribution in tourism on December 14th 2012 by the Macao Special Administrative Region. Later in 2014 the restaurant is reviewed and chosen by the Consumer Council of Macao to be the yearly premium restaurant for honesty.
