Random Friday post, coffee prices for the 2026 have seen a steep drop off this week. On paper every penny up or down has a real value impact of + or - $375.5 on a shipping container. Current coffee prices are down $33.00 (December 2025) and March 2026 prices are down a further $26.00...
What does this mean for prices? The volatility in the US increases risk and it upsets logistics. Coffee roasters like us were cautious about increasing our prices because of the impact on our customers. Now that our prices are up, should our prices go back down?
In the short term no... The pre Trump surge overwhelmed supply chain logistics so much so that prices jumped well over 200%. The additional strain on logistics such as the random tariffs on Brazil means shipping routes needed to be changed to accommodate the increased demand for Central America and South American coffee. So instead of doing one big refill they are forced to do multiple smaller loads. This impacts the number of available shipping containers, and time delay with unforeseen bottlenecks driving up shipping cost even further.
To conclude, 2026 prices are pegged at around $365.00
but that number needs to be sustained at around $200-250 for there to be any real drop in shelf prices:(
