š¤ Serious Questionā¦
Iāve been seeing the phrase āAI slopā popping up everywhere lately.
So Iām curiousā¦
If I take one of my own photos, have my own idea, spend fifteen minutes telling AI exactly where Gerald should stand, which shelf Thistle should be hiding behind, what the signs should say, what herbs belong in which jars, then reject six versions because Gerald looked possessedā¦
ā¦is it still AI slop?
I draw sketches for my field guides in the Wildcrafted series , I plug them into ai after I draw them to clean up the images because I donāt truly understand the math involved in pixels and such . Does that make my books ai or are they me using another creative?

Paint brushes didnāt paint the Mona Lisa by themselves.
Cameras donāt take award-winning photographs by themselves.
And AI certainly doesnāt wake up at 5 a.m. thinking,
āToday Iām going to put a frog named Gerald beside a grumpy gnome.ā
A real person still has to imagine it first.
If you donāt enjoy AI art, thatās perfectly okay. š
