How do you reduce your single-use waste?

🌎 Although single-use plastics and other materials seem to be overwhelmingly present in our lives, there are ways we can each take small actions to help limit this! For example, carrying around a reusable water bottle and coffee mug, bagging our groceries in a recyclable bag, and more!

♻️ These are great ways to reduce the amount of single-use items we encounter, and limit our reliance on our government’s curbside recycling programs. Although recycling is much better than our items ending up in a landfill, if we can reduce the amount of waste we produce in the first place, why wouldn’t we!

✨ Changing our transportation habits can be a great way to reduce our carbon footprints!

🚴‍♀️ Although driving a car is sometimes the only option, there are many other alternatives that we can try to implement into our daily lives! Some of the options are carpooling, taking public transportation, or the most environmentally conscious, riding a bike or walking!

🌎 All of these modes of transportation are great options to consider implementing in our lives, and can be an easy way to reduce individual emissions!

What is your favourite mode of transportation?

✨ There is no such thing as perfect sustainability! ✨

🌱 Many of us have a vision for a brighter future where we can live in harmony with our planet, rather than being a cause of its downfall. While we are passionate about this vision, the way to reach it is not through perfection, rather small individual action from all of us!

👣 If every one of us takes small steps towards change, we can collectively impact our planet!

What does imperfect sustainability look like to you?

✨ Did you know that reducing your food waste can have an incredibly positive impact on the planet?

🙌🏼 There are many ways to do this! Whether that is through a local curb-side compost, your own backyard compost, or just making the conscious effort to waste less food in general!

🌎 By making the choice to limit our individual food waste, we help lower the greenhouse gas emissions that are emitted when food enters and rots in a landfill. This simple act of reducing food waste can be a great way to have a positive impact on the planet, and create change!

✨The most sustainable items are the ones we already own!

🌎 As we embark on different parts of our sustainability journeys, it can be exciting to see all of the amazing sustainable swaps for our everyday items! Some of us are faced with moments where we want to buy beautiful tote bags, a matching set of mason jars, bamboo cutlery and more! But, it’s important to remember that a more sustainable lifestyle doesn’t have to be aesthetically beautiful- as tempting as that may be!

🍃Sustainable swaps can look like using your old pasta jars as food storage or wrapping up some of your cutlery at home to create a DIY cutlery kit! No hate to the occasional tote bag buy though, we have to treat ourselves too sometimes!

💚 What sustainable swaps have you made to your daily life recently?

What do you think are the biggest barriers to reducing your carbon footprint?

🌎 We understand that individual action may seem daunting when so much of the carbon emitted in the world is a result of the biggest corporations and our governments, but our individual actions DO MATTER and we can all contribute to the protection of our planet!

What personal actions do you take to reduce your footprint?

👏 Join us on May 27th at 6:30 PM to continue this conversation surrounding individual action and learn more about your personal carbon emissions! Register on the event page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1106778169842466
