Dave Woodman received the Branch Service Award not the Meritorious Service Award.
Here’s why he was selected…

Branch Service Medal Award to Dave Woodman

Dave Woodman is currently a Branch 594 elected Executive Committee member and come June 1st will be the Branch First Vice President!

Since joining our Branch Dave has taken on the following roles for our Branch:

Public Relations Chairman

page Coordinator

Colour Party Commander--- Dave has taken a defunct organization and has built it up to the point that other Legions are now looking at our Colour Party as the role model that they want to use for their Legion.

Parkwood Institute---Liaison This involves traveling to the Parkwood, in London, Ontario to visit with Veterans who are disabled in some manner.

Buddy Check Coffee Program. PTSI/OSI----peer support and buddy check during coffee meetings. Many veterans don't know who to turn to when Post Traumatic Stress becomes more than many are capable of handling so many are happy to talk to others with similar issues.

Veterans Services Officer. He launched a very successful campaign involving "Shoe Box" care packages for military personnel in Latvia. The program was launched with the hope that they could fill 20 boxes. This program became so popular that they had to stop the program when the donations reached 200 boxes.

Involved in a visit coordination of our Legion London Service Bureau where there was a great exchange of information to support veterans and active military personnel.

Dave is also involved in the collection of food and monetary donations to help Reserve soldiers/sailors. Many of them are University students who struggle daily to have food to eat.

Involved in discussions with Windsor Regional "Met Campus" regarding a mural in the "new" hospital. This is to honour veterans and also to start a system to identify patients that are veterans and then treat them according to special needs they may have.

As soon as you meet Dave Woodman you know his heart is full of pride and compassion for those involved in the Canadian Military. He is willing to tackle new jobs and is not afraid to get his hands dirty. Dave is a genuine and caring Comrade who is willing to go above and beyond for Veterans, their families and our Metropolitan Legion Branch 594.
