It’s just a simple exhibitor badge with Kyle’s name on it. But for us, it represents so much more. As parents of a child with complex needs, it can be difficult to know whether to focus on the present or the future. What we see today often shapes our worries about tomorrow. We spend so much time thinking ahead, planning, advocating, and wondering what life will look like years from now.
But thoughts are often like bubbles. The present moment, reality itself, has a way of gently bursting those fears and reminding us what truly matters.
Today, Kyle has an exhibitor badge with his name on it. Today, he makes bracelets. Not because it’s his favourite thing, but because he enjoys the rewards of creating something with his own hands and sharing it with others. Along the way, he has discovered new interests too. Recently, he decided he wants to learn to sew plushies and someday sell those as well! (once he gets his own sewing machine).
The point isn’t whether bracelets or plushies become a business. The point is that Kyle is discovering what he likes, what motivates him, and what gives him purpose. He is learning that work can be meaningful, creative, and rewarding.
So we are content with this simple name badge. Because he earned it.
Because it reflects who he is today.
Because it is his story. And perhaps most importantly, because Kyle has a way of reminding others to slow down, be present, and be grateful for what is right in front of them.
Sometimes the greatest awareness comes from those who simply live in the moment. ❤️

Art is so important for Kyle, it is his form of mindfulness. Whenever he creates something, whether it’s a bracelet (craft-arts) , a drawing, or another project, we can see the difference. It helps him focus, express himself, and find calm. Creating isn’t just an activity for Kyle it’s a meaningful part of his well-being. 💙

Kyle will be sharing awareness and selling his handmade bracelets as one of the exhibitors at the Rise to the Top event on June 6, hosted by Learn. Develop. Succeed. . The fair will take place at Altitudes Bistro, Grouse Mountain.
To prepare, we created a mock-up of what the KylesKiosk display should look like. Kyle will use this video and display photo as his guide when setting up his booth.
This is Kyle’s job now. His peer lead, Teanna, alongside his support worker, will be helping at the booth while Mom takes a step back. Kyle knows the routine, can help with setup, greet visitors, take breaks with his support worker, take photos, and enjoy the event. Thank you so much for inviting Kyleskiosk! 🙏🏼
🎥 In this video, Kyle is learning where to place the large-size bracelets and his story cards. Every detail helps build independence, confidence, and employment skills.
Come by and say hello! 💙

Kyle was born with significant balance and coordination challenges due to CHARGE Syndrome. During his early years, he had 11 specialists and so many medical appointments that we needed a spreadsheet just to keep track of them all.
But our number one priority was always physiotherapy.
We pulled him out of school when needed, never missed sessions, and continued the work at home. Our belief was simple: physical development comes first. When a child can move, explore, and participate in their world, the rest has a chance to follow—communication, learning, friendships, recreation, and independence.
Movement opens the door to participation, and participation opens the door to learning. Today, at 16, Kyle is still proving that every hour invested was worth it. 💪🏼❤️
📸🎥: Kyle at 18montns did not walk independently, he had to hold on to something. We made him walk alot at home while on his feeding tube(backpack is his food going to his stomach directly) Kyle and Karly 💪🏼 and this stage Kyle is very much motivated to exercise at the gym! Karly created a program for him. And yes he eats orally , not picky and a big appetite after working out.

Throwback... Kyle was only 11 years old during the on-and-off pandemic lockdowns, but physiotherapy continued with Karly. This was before she moved to Squamish.
Thank you, and ! These milestones are the result of years of dedication from Maegan and Karly, as well as Jude from , who worked with Kyle from ages 0–5.
Physical development and movement skills don’t happen overnight. They take years of consistent practice, encouragement, and hard work. Kyle did his homework, and so many amazing professionals helped guide him along the way.
To all the CHARGE families out there,
keep going. Progress may be slow, but every small step matters. 💙
Kyle is now 16 years old and still going strong. 💪🏼🙏🏼

Congrats 3 years in Squamish!!
On a personal note, we recently made a big move, selling the home we lived in for 25 years. One major blessing for us: staying within the same community where Kyle grew up. This is the neighbourhood where Kyle knows every street corner, the ski slopes where he and Karly spent many winter seasons together, the gyms at the recreation centres, the tracks where he scooters and runs, sports with Special Olympics! This is where his love of movement and physical activity thrived from infancy through his teen years.
We want Kyle to continue enjoying these familiar places and connections for many years to come. Community, belonging, and continuity matter so much.
Thank you, , for being part of Kyle’s journey and helping him build the confidence and skills to enjoy all these activities over the years. ❤️ and yes, we still see Karly for Physiotherapy in NV!
