We wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your support and meaningful feedback as well as kind words.
We at Benny & Fils have been in the business since 1991 and grew to become who we are today!
What happened yesterday is ONLY because we decided to not remove the baguettes from our institution since we’ve been using BRIDOR BAGUETTES for past 20+ years. They decided that it’s not “pas Israel” and sent us a letter in February stating that if it wouldn’t be removed from our restaurant they will take further actions against us. They told us we must buy another brand with their permission.
Yet we said YOUR MK hechsher is still on the BOXES which means we may still use them and therefor decided NOT to remove them from our restaurant. Nothing changed in the last 20 + years with the BRIDOR BAGUETTES. If MK would’ve removed their certificate from the baguettes we wouldn’t of used them whatsoever. As you can see in the pictures, we recieve the baguettes part baked and therefore according to Halacha (religious law) it is considered ”pas Israel”. That’s what we’ve been doing for 20+ years. Therefore we decided to take a step further and switch to KSR and once we told them they sent out that statement and a written letter that we are no longer under their supervision. To add onto that Benny spoke to one of the members and that person told Benny if we say “Jump, you jump. If we say sit, you sit. That’s OUR policy he said.” This is something that’s been going on for years and we are happy that we took a BIG STEP and show OUR COMMUNITY that we are all in this together! Instead of AHAVAT HINAM (endless love) they showed us what SINAT HINAM is (hatred). Thank you all for your understanding and love!
