🌊 First Wave Coffee – Coffee became a household staple. Convenience was king, and instant coffee ruled the shelves.
🌊 Second Wave Coffee – Coffee became a social experience. Espresso drinks, flavored lattes, and café culture exploded in popularity. While coffee quality improved somewhat from the first wave, the mass quantity required by chain shops didn’t allow for quality selection. They use the bulk of what otherwise would be discarded from the crop.
🌊 Third Wave Coffee – Coffee became a craft. Farmers, growing regions, processing methods, and roast profiles took center stage. Coffee drinkers began seeking out higher-quality beans and unique flavour experiences.
🌊 Fourth Wave Coffee – The future is transparency, sustainability, innovation, and connection. Direct relationships with producers, precision roasting, and a commitment to quality at every step from seed to cup.
