Why Endurance Athletes fuel with chocolate 🍫🚴🏃

Chocolate isn’t just a treat; it’s one of the oldest performance fuels on the planet. And endurance athletes have known this for a long time.

At the last Tour de France, riders were spotted fuelling with chocolate in the final kilometres of stages. Not gels. Not chews. Chocolate. Because when your body is deep into an effort, real food with real fats and real carbs is exactly what it responds to.

Here’s the science behind it 👇

Your body burns through glycogen fast on a long run or ride. Most gels replace carbs only, you get a spike, then a drop, then you’re reaching for another one.
