A note for our next generation of hands that need our grace right now 🍎

We have onboarded and trained a lot of incredible humans these past few weeks 🧑‍🌾👩🏼‍🍳 It’s been a busy and exciting season of learning and growth for all of us.

With rising costs and industry-wide labor challenges, the pressure to perform is very real. Culinary programs across Ontario are shutting down leaving food industry leaders with an even wider gap to face. This increases our responsibility to develop future generations in hospitality.

🍽️ Real hospitality and life long lessons learnt in the kitchen can’t be replaced by AI. It comes from hearts & hands and it is learned over time.

Thanks to the incredible support of our community that values real, good food, sourced close to home, made by real people, we are fully invested in keeping this beautiful thing going.

🫛 To cultivate the incumbent generation of skilled hands, we need to offer them a little grace. Growth requires space to make mistakes, learn, and improve.

While we do our absolute best to catch every slip-up, we may occasionally miss a few things. When we do, kindly let us know so we can make it right for you - and the ones after you 💛

🎉 Celebrating 10 years with you!!

This sweet little cafe was born in the middle of Kingston’s artist and academic hub in May 2016, serving a community of wonderful people who continue to support us every single day. Since its inception, it has lived through a transfer of ownership, a gruelling pandemic, economic uncertainty, the build and growth of a 2nd location, with so many great hearts + hands who have left their mark with us.

We are so very grateful for the grind that has brought us here and look forward to many more years of serving such a great community 💛

Thank you for being part of our journey 🙏

☕️ To kick things off, we are offering a drip coffee on the house every day before 10am through the month of May (1 pp per day) 🌺
