My True House Story

When my wife and I were first married we lived in an apartment. I made her a promise back then that I would build her a home before we were married for 15 years and we would be able to have a candlelight dinner for our 15th Wedding Anniversary in our own dining room in that house. I have always worked in the construction industry so I assumed I would be able to keep my promise

. It was about 14 years 11 months later that I remembered my promise to her. Fortunately we were about halfway into the construction of our current home. But I thought it would be nice to keep my promise as best I could. On the evening of our dinner out, it was late October and pretty cold. I had gathered all the items required to create the effect of a candlelit dining area in the unfinished, unheated space that would soon become our dining room. I had ordered Chinese food (because I can’t cook and I was keeping the dinner a secret from my wife) I told my wife we were going out for our anniversary dinner but had to stop at the site first. When my wife saw what I had arranged she was very surprised. We had a nice dinner and spoke about how lucky we were to be able to have our own home in a rural area with a nice private yard for our young son to play in.
