Elderberry Syrup from Louise & Jed | elderberry farm on sale for just $20 a bottle. This syrup is amazing and full of the cold and flu fighting properties in elderberries. In our house it reduces the length of time colds and flus stick around, and when we remember to take it preventatively it really helps keep them at bay too! Tastes amazing!

Despite the vibe we're not actually playing with potions here! We added a bubbler to our carrot washline dunk tank a couple of seasons ago and I'll never go back to washing without it! It pre cleans the carrots before they enter the wash barrel, and then get sorted and bagged on the conveyor. The BEST contribution this simple tool has made is SAVING WATER! Before the bubbler we had to use a lot more water (and time!) in the barrel washer to get our carrots clean. We use a fraction of the water we used to now! Small changes like this are little examples of how we're always looking for ways to reduce our impact.

We abandoned this patch of green beans weeks ago because they were stalled and seemed to be "done" for the season. Then we noticed they'd made a great comeback! Green beans are back in stock. Steamed and bean salad are simple favourites, but grilled and quick pickled are worth a try! And of course your winter self will thank you for grabbing some to freeze for later.

Carrot harvest has begun! We do our best to get our carrots out of the ground before September before the potential for wet weather. We have heavy soils with a lot of clay - not ideal for growing carrots or harvesting them when it is wet. Those challenging soils are also why they taste so great! The clay holds on to minerals and micronutrients that our carrots (and you!) benefit from.
