A note from Shaun. Well the time has come to say goodbye. As Krista and I are sitting back after our final day as owners of this humble little coffee shop we named the First Perk we once again would like to thank all of you who have made these many years a joy. The staff we have, and have had you’ve put your heart and soul into every dish, baked good, and drink we’ve created. Krista and I respect and love you guys. Our local friends and our many customers who have supported us in our good times and our hard times, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Family, some of you have worked along side us over years, all of you have been there when it counts no question. We have nothing but gratitude and love for you. Anders, you have been a part of this lofty vision we had since you were born. No words can express how much we care and love you. A great Barista and an even greater human being.

Tomorrow is a new day, a new adventure. Maybe someone will take what we have created and have it blossom into something even better. The road is ever changing my friends. For our part, we are ready to see what’s around the next bend. All that’s left to say about our time here at The Perk is
“It’s been a really good ride!”

**PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT** CLOSING TOMORROW

We are on the last FRIDAY, PLEASE if you have gift cards, bring them down and use them up! Acacia is baking up a storm so you can have a final sweet treat of your choice, or a freeze, or a breaky bun, or a JONES panini if you wish - we don't want to have anything left in the cooler at the end of the day tomorrow! SO PLEASE come help us out!

Don't forget Saturday August 29th, 2026 (THAT'S TOMORROW!) - we are at regular hours and all our staff is here to say GOOD-BYE as we close at this location. Open at 8:00 and with the BBQ starting around noon - we will BBQ until around 3:00 or 4:00 - so stop in for a hot dog or a smokie on us as we say THANK YOU all for the years of support!

AND...YES, our business is for sale and we are seeking a NEW OWNER, and a NEW LOCATION to serve all of our AMAZING CUSTOMERS...and to give you all the of the FAVORITES you have grown to love!

To our community, neighbours, friends, family, and customers who have become our family - WE have loved serving you this last 6 years at this location and for the 17 years before that...Shaun, Krista and our AWESOMELY AMAZING staff of the PERK.

💥The last day of operations here is just two weeks away! Please come in and use up those gift cards!!

On the 29th we are doing an old fashioned BBQ to THANK YOU ALL for the years of support! So starting at noon the BBQ’s will be on, we’ll be cooking up hot dogs and smokies free of charge until we run out!

The PERK will be open for business on that day starting at 8:00am - with all of our staff here to serve you one last time!

Come in any time that day and see us, we’ll have a few give aways, some cool remembrance merch, but mostly we’d like to see you out and about for a visit!

Hey! It’s been a while since we have posted, but of course we needed to check in with you to see how your summer is going??
How’s ours you ask? Well it’s going very quickly and for those of you who don’t know - we will be closed officially on the 29th of August! More details to come about our very last day…

But in the meantime, a couple of Public Service Announcements…here’s the List:
**Please remember to put your shirts and shoes on when you come in, hot coffee on bare skin and feet is no joke. Please dress yourself appropriately to come into our place of business because Interior Health requires it and so do we!
** Also - PLEASE use up those gift cards! You’ve got a limited time (less than 24 days) so come and get some goodies soon before we run out!
**Also we want to ask those of you who are here working for the summer, please limit your working stays here to a maximum of 1 to 2 hours, and please put your phone to your ear or use earbuds - (not speakerphone) being respectful of other patrons is a common courtesy. If you need to be on the phone, please consider using a picnic table outside, and consider buying something.
**Pets- we love that you have your pets with you - but please keep them on a leash and clean up after them.

We have been in customer service our whole lives…and in the restaurant and coffee business since 2003, we have seen a lot of things. This year has not only been difficult because it’ll be our last, but it has been very challenging in other ways! We try to do our very best to serve each customer with a smile, we have worked hard to build a solid reputation for good food, kind staff, and a positive vibe…so please help us keep vibing to the end of our customer service days.
We will not be commenting further on this post and would ask that you do the same.
