11th May, 2025.
Around 7:00 in the evening.
A few of us stepped into a tiny kitchen with nervous hands, tired eyes, and a dream that felt much bigger than the room we were standing in.
Nothing was truly ready that day. We didn’t even officially open. There was no proper menu. No finalized pricing. We were simply testing things out among ourselves — checking whether the kitchen equipment worked, trying to roll a few sushis so we could taste them before launching in someday.
All we really had was some raw ingredients, a small kitchen, and a dream to make sushi a go-to comfort food in Bangladesh.
Then suddenly, a little boy — probably around 10 years old — walked in with his mother and asked,
“Can I have sushi?”
We froze. Because we didn’t know what to say. We weren’t ready for a real customer yet.
After fumbling around for almost an hour, trying to prepare something decent, we finally served him a complimentary sushi roll. He took a bite. Smiled and said thank you. That little boy became the very first customer of Sushi On The Go and somehow, from that exact moment, everything changed.
Within the next hour, more people started walking in asking for sushi. We had no printed menu, so one of us literally handwrote one on paper and started taking orders. That night, we were so busy serving people that we never even got the chance to taste our own food.
But what we tasted that day was something even bigger — belief.
Your belief.
A year later, Sushi On The Go is now serving across 3 locations in Dhaka, with more coming very soon. Looking back, it still feels unreal.
From handwritten menus to thousands of orders…
From uncertainty to unforgettable memories…
From one little boy asking for sushi to a community that embraced our dream as their own.
Today is our first anniversary. And the love you’ve given us over this past year is something we will carry in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
Thank you for believing in us before we even fully believed in ourselves.
Thank you for standing beside our dream.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
This is only Year One. ❤
