Most people don’t know why we’re called Davelle. We’ve said it before, but never loudly.

It comes from ダベる — daberu. Japanese slang for hanging out and chatting with people you like.

In 2018 we opened a very small room on Suffolk Street and named it after that word, because that was the whole idea: a place for friends.

The room has been quiet for a month. We’ve been using the quiet to go back to basics — a new menu, the same room, the same idea.

Something is coming.
