🚧 DAY 349 OF THE RAAF BASE DARWIN ROADWORKS
We had a look around today and the official progress report is…
Over here: no changes.
Over there: a little work happening.
But after 349 days, we decided it was finally time to bring in an expert. 😂 349150
We asked the important question:
“How can we make the road go faster?”
Apparently we can’t.
So after exploring a few other highly questionable options, our expert came up with the only sensible solution:
🎥 MAKE MORE VIDEOS.
Day 349 done.
And that first roadworks birthday is getting very close… 🎂

🚧 DAY 342 OF 150 – WHY DO WE KEEP MAKING THESE VIDEOS?

We get messages saying:

“Stop complaining.”

“Stop whinging.”

So today, instead of another joke about cones, pools or grass, here's a reminder of why we started documenting this.

When these roadworks began, we were told 150 days.

During that original period, access to our business was severely affected. Customers struggled to get in, the small entrance was confusing and we felt the signage wasn't adequate.

We complained.

We wrote to politicians, departments, the Ombudsman and Defence.

And we kept filming.

Now we're at:

DAY 342 OF 150.

We're not documenting this because we enjoy standing beside roadworks every week.

We're documenting what a small business beside a major project has experienced.

And we'll keep the camera rolling until it's finished.

🚧 DAY 336 OF 150 – OKAY, LET'S TRY A FAIRER COMPARISON

Good news first:

🏗️ There's a crane.

So yes, there IS some work happening today.

But after last week's comparison with Australia's great engineering projects, apparently we've upset a few people. 😂

We've been told:

“You can't compare this with the Snowy Mountains Scheme. That was far more complicated.”

Fair enough.

So the Supermarket Man went looking for something closer in scale.

According to the comparison in today's video:

🌊 Previous bridge washed away
🏗️ Entire replacement required
⏱️ Rebuilt in 228 days

Meanwhile...

The cones are back.
The fences are up.
The dirt has been dug.

🚧 DAY 322 OF 150 — THE CONE ARMY IS COMING! 🚧🚧🚧

No Works Lovers, we've got some breaking news...

THERE'S ACTUALLY SOMETHING HAPPENING TODAY! 😳

Yep. Day 322 and we can see activity.

But there's a slight problem.

It appears our usual way of getting out has been cut off, and we're not entirely sure how we're supposed to leave.

So getting out tonight could be an adventure. 😂

But that's not the biggest development.

Something strange is happening with the traffic cones.

We think...

THE CONES ARE HAVING BABIES.

Little cones are popping up everywhere.

They've multiplied.

They've organised.

And now...

THE CONE ARMY IS CONSPIRING AGAINST THE SUPERMARKET MAN. 😂

He was running.

He thought he could get away.

Then he heard the description of the suspect...

🚧 DAY 315 OF 150 — LET'S LOOK FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE

This week we're filming from somewhere different.

Why?

Because our normal spot doesn't really show the full picture of what businesses and customers have been dealing with around here.

The entry is still rough — although we'll admit it's probably better than it was.

But here's the part you don't normally see:

🚗 We've been driving through this area and over a steel plate EVERY DAY for around six months just to get out.

There IS some progress in the distance.

They're actually working down there.

But in the area we're showing you today?

Literally zero visible progress this week.

On the positive side...

🌱 The grass is looking beautiful.

The road?

We'll leave that judgement to you. 😂
