I’ve actually been vlogging for around 8 years. My YouTube channel is old — really old! 😂 But for a long time, nothing much has been happening there.

And the funny thing is, I’ve had all this vlogging equipment sitting around. Cameras, microphones, everything… and I thought, it’s about time I actually use them!

Especially now.

We’ve built OKANE Kitchen & Sushi Bar from the ground up, and there are so many stories behind this business that people don’t see.

The successes, the mistakes, the stressful nights, the system going down, catering events, learning new things, dealing with licences, paperwork, staffing, customers, being a mum while running a restaurant with my husband… everything.

It hasn’t always been pretty. But that’s exactly what I want to show.

I don’t want my vlog to just be, “Come and eat at our restaurant.”

I want to show you what it actually takes to run a small family business.

Chef Ben in the kitchen, me running around doing a hundred things at once, our arguments 😂, our good days, our terrible days, and those little moments when we look around and realise, wow… look how far we’ve come.

So after almost 8 years of having this YouTube channel, I think I finally know what I want to use it for.

This is our journey.

This is behind the scenes of OKANE.

And maybe, while sharing our story, I can help another person who is thinking about starting a small business too.

So… I guess I’m officially vlogging again. ❤️

That night we’ll never forget. 😭😂

The system went down. The printer stopped working. Orders kept coming, customers kept arriving, and for a moment it felt like everything that could go wrong… did. 😅

It was stressful, messy and overwhelming—but it taught us a massive lesson about teamwork, communication, staying calm, and being prepared when technology fails.

Running a restaurant isn’t always picture-perfect. Sometimes the hardest nights become the ones that teach you the most. ❤️

We learned. We adjusted. We became stronger as a team.

One difficult night doesn’t define OKANE—but it definitely helped shape us. ❤️
