Why is goal setting important for NDIS participants? 🎯

Goals help ensure your supports are focused on what matters most to you—whether that’s building independence, learning new skills, connecting with your community or feeling more confident in everyday life.

Your goals can also help your support team:

🌿 Understand your priorities
🌿 Provide support that suits your needs
🌿 Celebrate your progress
🌿 Adjust your supports as your circumstances change

Goals don’t have to be big. Small, achievable steps can lead to meaningful progress over time—and your goals should always reflect your choices, interests and aspirations.

At TEIA, we’re here to support you as you work towards the life you choose. 💚

📢 NDIS update: Unscheduled plan reassessments

The NDIA has announced changes to how participants can request a plan reassessment outside their usual review period.

Participants can request an unscheduled reassessment when there has been a significant and ongoing change to their circumstances or disability-related support needs, and their current plan no longer meets those needs.

Under the updated process:

🌿 The participant, plan nominee or child representative must submit the request
🌿 A provider cannot submit the request on the participant’s behalf
🌿 Recent supporting evidence will be required—usually dated within four months of the request and after the current plan was approved
🌿 The NDIA may decide to reassess the whole plan, vary part of the existing plan, or decline the request if the evidence does not demonstrate a significant and ongoing change

Simply using all available funding before the end of a plan or funding period is not, on its own, grounds for an unscheduled reassessment.

If your circumstances have changed, speak with your Support Coordinator or my NDIS contact about the evidence you may need and the next steps.

More information is available on the official NDIS website.

Sunshine, fresh air and a little seaside discovery! ☀️🌊

Getting out into the community creates wonderful opportunities to explore, connect with nature and enjoy new experiences. It’s often the smallest discoveries that bring the biggest smiles! 💙

Support Work and Support Coordination—what’s the difference? 🤔

While both services can help you work towards your NDIS goals, they play very different roles.

🌿 Support Work provides practical, hands-on assistance with everyday activities, such as personal care, household tasks, accessing the community and building independence.

🌿 Support Coordination helps you understand your NDIS plan, connect with suitable providers and services, coordinate your supports, and build the confidence to manage your plan.

Simply put: a Support Coordinator can help organise and connect your supports, while a Support Worker helps deliver your day-to-day support.

Depending on your individual NDIS plan, you may have funding for one or both services.
