🚨 WE’RE HIRING – 2IC / SENIOR TEAM MEMBER 🚨
📍 Gone Fishin’ Fish & Chips – Sunset Beach location
We’re looking for a reliable, experienced and motivated 2IC / Senior Team Member to join Gone Fishin’ Fish & Chips.
This isn’t just another crew position. We’re looking for someone who can take responsibility, use initiative and help lead the team when the owner & manager isn’t directly supervising.
🎣 THE ROLE
As our 2IC, you’ll help take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the shop, including:
🔴 Food Prep & Kitchen Readiness
Making sure prep is completed correctly and on time, stock is rotated, portions are consistent and the kitchen is ready to go before service.
⚫ Kitchen Cleaning & Maintenance
Taking ownership of cleaning standards, ensuring cleaning schedules are completed, keeping equipment and work areas maintained, and reporting maintenance issues before they become bigger problems.
🔴 Junior Staff Management
Leading and directing junior employees, allocating jobs, keeping the team productive, helping train staff and making sure tasks are actually completed properly.
⚫ Customer Service
Serving customers, answering phones, handling orders and dealing professionally with customer questions or minor complaints.
🔴 Shift Leadership
Helping keep service organised during busy periods, prioritising jobs, solving day-to-day problems and making sure the team knows what needs to be done.
⚫ Food Quality & Safety
Maintaining our standards for portion sizes, cooking, presentation, food storage, hygiene and food safety.
🔴 Opening & Closing
Completing opening/closing procedures, checking equipment, ensuring food is stored correctly and making sure the shop is properly cleaned and ready for the next shift.
👀 WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We want someone who:
✔️ Has hospitality or commercial kitchen experience
✔️ Is reliable and punctual
✔️ Can confidently supervise junior employees
✔️ Has strong customer-service skills
✔️ Can work independently without constant supervision
✔️ Notices what needs doing and gets it done
✔️ Can stay organised when we’re getting smashed during service
✔️ Takes pride in cleanliness and food quality
✔️ Is comfortable taking responsibility
✔️ Can communicate problems to management clearly
✔️ Leads by example rather than standing back and giving orders
⭐ MOST IMPORTANTLY…
We’re looking for someone with initiative.
If you see prep that needs doing, you do it.
If something needs cleaning, you organise it.
If a junior needs direction, you give it.
If stock is running low, you flag it.
If something isn’t working properly, you report it.
We don’t expect our 2IC to know absolutely everything — but we do expect them to take ownership of their shift and their responsibilities.
