// The South West Rocks Surf Club is gearing up for our biggest season yet!

Our Nippers will be back on the beach in a few weeks and we are welcoming all new and returning members to come on down and say hi, grab all the gear and find out the info at one of our sign-on days (if you can’t make either of these days that is ok we can catch you on another day).

We would also like to welcome our new Junior Activities Coordinator for this season - Bel. Those who have been at Nippers before will have known Bel as one of our amazing Age Managers for a number of years.

// We are still super pumped from hosting the recent Surf Life Saving Australia IRB Championships last month.

It was very exciting for our first ever U23 team, the 'Tinny Rats' to compete on their own beach. They are keen to do it all again next season and want to bring some more people along for the ride.

If you are a member of SWRSLSC or one of the other Mid North Coast Clubs please feel free to come along and join in the fun.

// Due to unforeseen circumstances we have major delays in the construction of our new cool room!!

Unfortunately, this means that the bistro will be closed for another week. Our bar will be open again on Thursday the 27th and Friday the 28th from 2.30pm till 5.30pm.

We will be running a BBQ sausage sizzle on Friday!

We apologise for any inconvenience and can't wait to see everyone back for regular service soon!!

// It is amazing the the history that can be uncovered when you least expect it.

As we are getting ready for the new coolroom and freezer for our bistro there has been some timber from approximately the 1950s and 1960s exposed.

With a special plank showing the signature JL Brenton on it.

After a little bit of investigation we have learnt that the builder was James Lesley Brenton or Jim
as he was fondly known.

Jim was the eldest of 22 children and was a local builder throughout the Macleay along with some of his brothers.

It turns out that Jim’s niece is one of our active patrolling members at South West Rocks!

All the timber will be kept to use throughout the clubhouse in various upcoming projects to ensure our long history is on display.

// We need more OFCs! The OFCs (Old Farts Committee) are an integral part of the South West Rocks Surf Life Saving Club, and they need some more helpers.

Are you retired, semi-retired, or simply have a bit of time on your hands and would like to help out at South West Rocks Surf Life Saving Club?

The OFCs are looking for some extra men and women to lend a hand around the Club on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

There’s no big commitment – come along when you can and help with whatever needs doing. Jobs might include:
🌿 Gardening and general tidy-ups
🔧 Basic maintenance and odd jobs
🧹 Helping around the clubhouse
♻️ Taking our 10c bottles and cans to Return & Earn
🛠️ And all those little jobs that help keep our Club looking great!

It’s a great way to stay active, meet other Club members, and give a little back to the Club.

And, of course, once the jobs are done, there’s smoko! ☕🍪 Because no OFC work crew is complete without a well-earned cuppa and a yarn!

You don’t need to be a tradie or a gardening expert – just bring yourself and a willingness to have a go.

Tuesday & Thursday mornings – help when you can.

Come along, lend a hand, have a laugh and join the OFCs! 💙💛
