The recipes Hevi still thinks about when she’s far from home.

For this Sunday Table, Hevi is stepping into The Upperhouse kitchen alongside Executive Chef Wayne Alger to share the dishes she grew up with in West Kalimantan.

These aren’t restaurant recipes. They’re family recipes.

The kind passed down from mother to daughter. The meals that marked celebrations, brought everyone to the table and became part of everyday life. The dishes Hevi still craves when she’s away from home.

From handmade dumplings and satay skewers to slow-cooked beef rendang and ice cendol for dessert, this menu is a reflection of family, culture and the flavours that shaped her childhood.

On Sunday 14 June, we’re bringing those recipes to the table and sharing them the way they were always intended to be enjoyed… together.

Gather your family, bring your friends and join us for an afternoon of shared plates, catching up and food that comes straight from the heart.

Sunday Table returns to The Upperhouse with a menu inspired by the family recipes and flavours Hevi grew up with in West Kalimantan.

Our take on The Cook and the Chef, in The Upperhouse kitchen.

For this Sunday Table, Hevi joins Executive Chef Wayne Alger to share the dishes taught to her by her mother through years spent side by side in the kitchen. Food tied to home, family and tradition.

Wayne tried Hevi’s rendang and from that moment this lunch was born. Put simply, he says it’s the best rendang he’s ever had.

Together, Hevi and Wayne will cook the menu side by side before it’s served as a shared-style lunch in The Manhattan Room.

Designed to be passed around the table, enjoyed slowly and shared with your favourite people.

Love across continents.

Monique and Matthew brought family from overseas to celebrate their March wedding in the Manhattan Room. Long tables were set with textured green runners and soft pink blooms, adding a soft, romantic touch.

They chose a sweetheart table, giving them a few quiet moments together to take it all in.

Having loved ones travel from across continents to be in the same room made the day feel even more special.

Congratulations to Monique and Matthew, and thank you for celebrating your wedding reception with us. It was a privilege to be part of your day.

Sunlight through the atrium. Colour on every plate. A long, leisurely afternoon with the best kind of company.

Today’s Sunday Table was something a little different — a fully vegan menu, thoughtfully put together and full of flavour. The response was wonderful.

This Sunday, lunch gets a Levantine makeover at The Upperhouse above the Royal.

Sunday Table is a share-style vegan lunch built around the bold, aromatic flavours of the Levant. Chef Wayne's menu moves from mezze through to raspberry baklava cheesecake, every course designed to be passed around the table and eaten slowly, with people worth slowing down for.

Between courses, the atrium and open-air terrace are there to soak up the afternoon. A wine pairing is available to add at booking if you want the full experience.
Vegan, veg-curious, or just after a Sunday that actually feels like one. All welcome.
