🍺 HEADS OF NOOSA BLACK JAPANESE L***R 🍺

🏭 Brewery: Heads of Noosa Brewing Co.
🍺 Style: Black Japanese L***r
📊 ABV: 4.5%

👀 Appearance:
Deep mahogany with a ruby glow showing through at the base and a creamy light tan head.

👃 Aroma:
Roasted malt leads the way, with noticeable chocolate character.

🍫 Palate:
A significant hit of roasted barley and chocolate up front, developing into a well balanced bitterness as you work through each mouthful.

💧 Mouthfeel:
Smooth and surprisingly full, with a thicker mouthfeel than many of the dark la**rs we’ve tried.

🔥 Finish:
Dry and crisp, with the roasted malt and balanced bitterness lingering just enough to keep you coming back for another sip.

🍺 Would we order it again?
It has the clean, crisp drinkability you expect from a Japanese style l***r, but with enough roasted malt, chocolate and body to keep a dark b**r drinker happy.

Dark b**r drinkers, do you prefer your dark la**rs light and crisp, or with a bit more roast and body like this one? 🍻 **rTourOfAustralia ***r ***r ***r ***r **r **rLovers **rAustralia **r **r **rLife **rReview **rTasting **r **r **r **r **rTour

🍻🚐 DARK B**R TOUR OF AUSTRALIA – BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN! 🇦🇺

After a few weeks back at work on the tug, Maz and I are packing our bags and getting ready to hit the road again, exploring more of this awesome country!

First stop, we’re flying home to Brisbane to catch up with family and friends, celebrate one of our daughters turning 21, and spend some much needed time with the crew back home.

Then we’re lucky enough to have one of our sons joining us for an epic road trip back across the country to Western Australia! 🚐🍺

Our travels will take us through the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and down to Kempsey to catch up with the old boy, before pointing ourselves southwest and making our way across this great country.

And of course, it wouldn’t be the Dark B**r Tour without a few brewery stops along the way.

We’ll be revisiting some of my favourites, including:
🍺 Sunshine Brewery
🍺 Hip Hop Brewing
🍺 Stony Creek Brewing
🍺 Bucket Brewery

But we’re just as keen to discover some new breweries, hunt down a few cracking dark b**rs and pull up a stool at some good old fashioned country pubs along the way.

There’s something pretty special about finding a little country pub in the middle of nowhere, having a yarn with the locals and discovering a b**r you weren’t expecting.

🍻 NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP

We’re chasing recommendations. Whether it’s a hidden little brewery, an old country pub with plenty of character or somewhere pouring an absolutely cracking stout, porter or dark ale, we want to hear about it.

👇 Drop your must visit breweries and pubs in the comments. Where should we stop, and more importantly, what should we be drinking when we get there?

And if you happen to see Maz and me on our travels, don’t be shy. Come up, say g’day and have a yarn. We love meeting the people who follow our adventures.

Here’s to more kilometres, new adventures, great b**rs and the people we meet along the way!

Cheers from the Dark B**r Tour of Australia! 🍻🇦🇺

🍺 HAPPY FATHER’S DAY 🍺

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, father figures and the great dads who are no longer with us but remain forever in our hearts.

Here’s to the dads who taught us to work hard, enjoy the simple things and never miss the chance for a good road trip, a campfire and a cracking dark b**r.

We hope your day is filled with family, laughter and a well earned cold one. Cheers from Eric and Maz at Dark B**r Tour of Australia! 🍻🇦🇺

🍺 WHALEBONE BREWING COMPANY – EXMOUTH, WA 🍺

Whalebone Brewing Company is an absolute must visit when you’re in the Exmouth area.

The venue has a relaxed, rustic character, built like an old shed and decorated with boats, whale bones and plenty of interesting pieces. We’re even led to believe sections were built using timber from an old Navy jetty, adding another layer to its unique story.

It was quiet when we first arrived, so we settled in for a feed and a full tasting paddle not only to sample their dark b**rs, but to explore everything Whalebone had to offer.

The food was fantastic! From pizzas to burgers, the menu has something for everyone. There’s loads of seating for groups of all sizes, the venue is well laid out, and the large kids’ play area makes it a great option for families.

After plenty of travelling and working, we had been craving some live music and Whalebone delivered that for us last night with its dedicated live music stage.

Maz sampled the Ningaloo gin range, which was a very welcome addition considering I drag her through breweries all around this beautiful country! I was keen to try one of their spiced rums, but that might have to wait until next time.

Fantastic food, great drinks, live music and a venue packed with rustic character. Whalebone Brewing Company is definitely worth adding to your Exmouth itinerary. 🍺🍕🎶🐋

🐎 ROBE RIVER RODEO 🐂

An exceptional display of horsemanship from the talented cowboys and cowgirls at the Pannawonica Rodeo. Plenty of skill, courage and nonstop action, what a fantastic event to experience!

There’s no sign of a dark b**r here, but luckily we came prepared and have a few tucked away in the esky. Keep an eye out for some new reviews over the next couple of days! 🍻

🍺 NORTH WEST BREWING CO. – KARRATHA 🍺

Sitting in Karratha’s industrial area, North West Brewing Co. has a welcoming atmosphere and a fantastic setup.

It was very quiet when we arrived, with only a couple of tradies stopping in for a knockoff pint on their way home. By 5:30 pm though, the place was heaving! Footy on the big screen, pints flowing and the food was sensational.

Now to the b**r!

The North West Stout is a mid strength stout at just 3.5%. I was slightly worried that with a low ABV it might miss the mark on flavour, but that was definitely not the case.

It’s a great example of a dry Irish style stout, delivering plenty of cocoa and burnt coffee flavour. The mouthfeel was beautifully smooth, with a creamy head that held right through to the final mouthful. It carried slightly more bitterness than your average Irish stout, but that suited my taste perfectly.

At 3.5%, it also meant I could comfortably lean into a few while catching up with some age old friends.

We worked our way through several of the NEIPAs and IPAs as well, and they were all excellent. A special mention has to go to the Hazy Dog - a cracking b**r!

Great b**r, great food and a venue that certainly comes alive as the afternoon rolls on. North West Brewing Co. is well worth calling into when you’re in Karratha. **r **rAustralia **rTourOfAustralia **rReview **rGoodMates
