Pearls on the Beach

Pearls on the Beach seasonal produce shapes our menu and while some favourites might stick around a little longer, exciting new dishes and wine are what we're all about.

For eight teen years, Pearls... has been under the ownership of head chef Scott Fox and restaurant manager Melissa Fox. During this time Pearls has provided endless memorable dining experiences with outstanding, yet approachable food, wine and service in an easy but chic beach side setting.

SOME NEWS FROM US! 🥳
First up.. we are reopening on Friday 22 October YAY 😀
Secondly.. the big one - we have sold our beautiful restaurant after 19+ years (21+ yrs for Scott as chef!). We’re ready for the next adventure! 🍾
The new owner will be taking over the reigns from Monday 8 Nov. A new face and a new energy! 👍🏼
Tables are pretty much booked out for the 3 week period - so many goodbyes to be said.. 😞
Our last three weeks are gonna be the best ever!

HELLO! 🙌
We were hoping to reopen this week feeling relaxed & rejuvenated after a lovely holiday— unfortunately covid foiled our plans! 😢
The plan moving forward for us is sadly remain closed until we can reopen as Pearls with real tables, food on plates, wine in glasses and real service! 🍷🍽
In the meantime, you will see us around town walking the pooches, working on our house which needs some love, doing essential wine list research (the best bit) and developing a new menu. 😉
We miss you all and look forward to seeing you again soon!

P.s. the building reno is almost complete.. just a bit of paint to go on the roof and it’s done.. no more scaffold! Yay! 😀

Pearl Beach is one of prettiest parts of the Central Coast—a perfect little horseshoe beach ringed by cliffs & lush green vegetation. @pearlbeachrestaurant makes the most of its enviable location, with an airy, white weatherboard dining room that frames the seascape. The menu leans towards produce-centred imaginative small plates that stray from the usual offerings.

Creamy stracciatella ($23) is accompanied by strawberries, heirloom tomatoes and pickled onion, united by pine nuts and tarragon oil. Bitterness is a surprising pleasure in marlin carpaccio ($25) where radicchio jam and parsley oil are gentler by hazelnut cream to make a lovely foil for the thinly sliced fish.

Bavette tartare ($25) is your must-eat. It recreates all the magic of a classic beef tartare with unusual condiments: pickled daikon, mushroom XO and smoked yolk jam to name a few. King prawns ($25) are another clever prawn cocktail update where Marie Rose sauce is switched out for buttermilk and prawn head chilli oil to very good effect.

Quail ($25) is presented as a splayed whole bird and all the juicier for it. It’s good against eggplant ($23) served crisp and clearly inspired by West Asia with generously applied black baba ghanouj and fried chickpeas in za’atar. Warm bread ($7) with quality olive oil rounded out our selections (recommended at three small plates per person).

The wine list contains some gems, with those willing to spend more rewarded by lower marks-ups. The 2019 Tolpuddle Chardonnay ($115) was refined and delightful down to the last drop, shifting gears to throw grapefruit, white peach, granite, savouriness and smokiness depending upon what you were consuming. Recommend!
