Having an app immediately gets your customer emails, ordering patterns, mobile numbers, birthdays & access to direct delivery. What good is a great special if your customers don't know about it?

We've had some clients do over $20,000 a week in sales & still lose money. How? Because over half their sales come from UberEats.

That $20,000 has half of it coming from UberEats. That means $10,000 of your sales actually looks closer to $4000 (once you factor in discounts, marketing & delivery commission).

Using delivery as a way to reach customers who wouldn't otherwise come in is fantastic. But don't get lazy and begin relying on it.

The easiest way to build revenue isn't launching a new pistachio dessert (although that could work!).

It's making a monthly customer into a fortnightly one. Making a fortnightly customer into a weekly one. A year customer into a monthly one.

Chances are you have lots of customers. You just need to increase their spend & frequency.

Build an email database. Start communicating with your customers regularly. Use socials to build a real community.

You must roster for how sales are going. There needs to be a balance between staff security over shifts & your hospo venue running profitably.

Make sure you read your award and you're not running foul of regulations around part-time shift structures & definition of casuals.

But make sure you are monitoring for the spikes in sales, the downtimes, changes in weather, seasoning variations and more! Hospo is a tough business, make sure you're on top of rostering & trade profitably!

Have you heard of Prime Costs? It's the term that decides if your venue makes money. It's as important as your Sales number.

Prime costs = your COGS (food + beverage) plus your labour.

Here's why 60% is the magic line ๐Ÿ‘‡

A healthy venue looks like this:

๐Ÿ”ธ Prime cost (COGS + labour): 60%
๐Ÿ”ธ Rent: 10-15%
๐Ÿ”ธ Utilities & overheads: 15%
๐Ÿ”ธ Net profit: 10-15%

Your overheads are mostly fixed; you can't control your rent, electricities or overheads.
So prime cost is the lever that decides everything.

Let it creep to 65% and your profit halves. At 70-75% you're barely breaking even. At 80%+ you're losing money on every shift โ€” no matter how busy you are.
